  1. When my Nav system gives me guidance (e.g. announce a turn), the radio (or satellite) audio continues during the guidance announcement.

Wonder if there is a setting I missed which would 'mute' all audio functions during guidance announcements?

    Thanks,

NO mute, but you can increase the the volume on guidance announments. I have mine set on 3 and its plenty loud.

Can you describe how the volume is adjusted for the nav announcements? Is it in the audio menu, or another setting screen?

    Thanks..

  2. Goodyear Eagle RS-A P235/55R 18s are OEM on my 2008. I have 30K miles and think it will be a streach to get to 40K for what it's worth.

I agree.. I have the Goodyear OEMs on my 08 350 and they are crap IMHO.. <_< Wish I would have got the Michelins instead, and I'll probably go with Michelin when it's time to replace the Goodyears (which won't be long)..

Good question, and I'm curious about the same thing. I always end up reaching for the audio volume control to turn it down when I hear the chime for a guidance announcement.. <_<

  4. I have had the 2010 RX350 for a week and am disappointed in the foot well lighting. I had expected that in the newer model to have better lighting but the foot well lighting was taken out all together?

They did link the front and rear interior ceiling lights together so when you turn the interior light on in the front, the rear interior light goes on too. This is an improvement but I am puzzled that the foot well lighting was removed all together.

Other manufacturers do a good job with interior lighting but I feel that Lexus and Toyota do the minimum and expected that with this generation of the RX it would change. Our 2007 RX400h has foot well lighting... it is minimal but it does have it.

    Anyone else notice this change?

My 08 RX 350 has it, but frankly, I really don't see that it's all that useful or necessary anyway; but that's just me..

  5. I have my oil changed on my RX400h at a local Toyota dealership whenever I can and was told that the service information can be retrieved by Lexus dealerships. The Toyota dealership does the same service 5k, 10k, etc at a fraction of the cost of the Lexus dealership.

Completely agree, and I do the same. IMHO, there is no logical reason to take it to the Lexus dealership (except maybe for warranty work); unless you just like shelling out three times as much for the same work and parts.

  6. i use klasse all in one (red bottle) to clean and prep the car.

then i use pinnacle souveran wax to make it real shiny. it's very easy to apply, and it wipes off clean. no white marks.

I've heard good things about the Pinnacle product line, but haven't tried their wax yet. I do use their leather care products for my seats though..

Consumer Reports rates Zymol as the #1 wax/polish on the market today, and that's what I use. It's inexpensive (about $10/16 oz bottle), easy on/off, and provides a brillient shine; but most importantly, the protection is fantastic! And it's an all natural product as well...no harsh chemicals..

  7. How about racing fuel? I have found 100 octane and was curious about using it. It is called racing fuel at the stations where I have seen it.

I believe the way it reads is '91 octane or higher', so I can't see why 100 octane wouldn't be fine. But I don't know if you'd be getting any better performance out of the more expensive fuel..

  8. I got a stone chip on the hood of my RX 350, not very big at all and the paint/body shop that Lexus referred me to wanted $1300 to repair and paint it, which I thought was way over-priced.

Based on the itemized estimate, most of the cost was for labor; removing hood components such as the windshield wipers, windshield washer spray nozzles, etc., because they would be repainting the entire hood for a chip not much bigger than a pin head.

I ended up buying a paint pen from the dealership for $12 and did it myself. Can barely see it now..

  9. At least you have cross bars. I just noticed that my three day old 2010 has rails but no cross bars. Now I have to purchase this accessory from the dealer I reckon. Hmmm....

I believe the crossbars should have come with the rails at delivery, otherwise what good is the rack?

I agree why put the rails on if your not going to throw in the cross bars. The Highlander has always come with and without rails, rails always come with cross bars but not on the 2010 RX350--now cross bars are a $259 option.

    Roof rack CrossBars [28] $259 [29] $259 [29] http://www.lexus.com/models/RX/features/pricing.html

Wow, I didn't realize that the newer models are not equipped with these as standard. My 2008 RX 350 was delivered with the rails and cross bars..

I would take your car back to the dealer and have them installed, at no charge of course..

  11. My 'Savannah Metallic' (I call it Champagne) with 'Ivory' interior 08 RX 350 came with what look like tan floor mats. They match the interior very well. I also bought a set of tan heavy duty floor mats from Costco to put over the original mats for added protection..

  12. This weekend we were on a road trip and were forced to eat in the car. The wife spilled some mayonnaise based sauce on our tan seatbelt. Does anyone have a good recco to get rid of the stain? We blotted and while the major color is gone the outline is still there. Thanks in advance guys.

I do have Scotchguard Oxy Cleaner but was fearful to test on such a visible spot on the belt. Not sure if anyone has used that.

Precisely why we never eat or drink (except bottled water) in our beautiful RX 350!

  13. I went to Lexus of Mobile, AL to have my 30,000 mile service on my 2007 rx350/su. I was shocked when I got the bill for $662.03. The cost for parts/$195.83, labor/$412.50, G.O.G/ $16.08???, MISC $20.00, can someone please tell me if this is a normal charge for labor? What is G.O.G? Also, ten minutes after leaving the dealership, my tire light came on. I'm having no problems with the car; I only went in for my regular service.Cost for 30,000 mile service???

I also have a crack in my windshield and got a quote for the cost to replace it from Lexus of Mobile, AL; After giving them my vin #, they informed me it would cost $1,400. Is this a normal cost for a Lexus 07 RX350 windshield? When I asked them why so high??? They told me the reason is, "we install a Lexus windshield and you have rain sensors". I then ask if I could get a quote on a regular windsheild with no rain sensor??---$1300?? Is this normal?

This is a normal charge for a major service on most Lexus' As far as the GOG charge, that is the way dealerships charge out engine oil (yours takes 5 quarts of oil). This is a synthetic blend so it does cost more than regular oil. The MISC charge is probably for shop supplies which is a charge that dealerships add on for things like cleaning fluids, oil rags, wheel weights Ect...

Please help me out here, but are you attempting to justify dealership charges for service? If so, you are going to lose that argument!

No. I'm not trying to justify the dealership charges, just explain what they are. That is what he was asking, wasn't it. I do not feel that shop charges are exactly fair and are used to get more money from the customer in most cases due to the fact that some dealers will charge a percentage of the total bill to determine shop charges. If you go in for a simple repair or minor service, then shop supplies should not be charged, but if it is a major service or repair, then a fair charge should be applied which would be up to the owner of the vehicle to review and discuss with the service writer or manager.

Okay, but I still cannot justify the difference in price between service at a Lexus dealership, and the exact same service at a Toyota dealership. The Toyota service is always at least half the price of the Lexus service. The only difference is the 'designer' water, flat screen plasma TV in the customer lounge, and the pastries.. For $50-$250 savings at Toyota, I think I can do without those 'perks'.. And my Toyota dealership has free coffee and donuts too.. :)
