  1. this lexus is my 6th car.

    and i am only 21

    worked since 13 years old.

    I've had following.

90 taurus w/ 215000 miles on it auto

    94 civic auto

    92 accord auto

    95 accord 5 speed

    94 3.2 acura legend 6 speed

    92 300zx twinturbo 5 speed

    95 lexus es300

lexus is nice car..but there's nothing like a good sports car.. i've dated tons of girls who liked my 300zx.

    peace.

  2. why is this such an expensive procedure?

on my honda accord, i got it replaced for 60 bucks .

on camry (es300) it should be around that much.. of course, i have never gotten one done on lexus.

if you want a good quality shop that will beat anyone's price in town..look for

    "campbell tires" off highway 9

they do awesome work at very low price.

  3. I've had a few setups before. on a few previous cars.

KYB AGX shocks are amazing..you can adjust front ones 4 ways and rear ones 8 ways.

so you can go from comfy to rock stiff.

now..springs...you have to decide on the spring. how low you wanna go? and what kind of comfort do you want? one end is extreme autocross sporty set...the other end is really really comfy set.

as far as front/rear strut bars...they don't help much. i honestly couldn't tell a difference on a lexus. (most 4 cylinder cars have weak body/frame and they tend to turn..but on V6 and up..you really don't need one) i am sure it does help..but not as much. one on ebay is 7.95+ shipping (expensive or cheap..they do basically same thing...as proven by stealin & cheap ebay ones from my previous cars)

If you want to have a good handling car? then get rear sway bars.. that will give you really good and stiff suspension.

get a wide tires with low profile. something like 225/40/16 (practical and reletively cheap tires) or 245/40-45/18 (i don't even know if this will fit)

My old car..300zx.. i've had front strut, rear sway, kyb agx, eibach, 245 tires. it gripped the road like a devil.

Oh..when you are getting shocks/springs...you will probably have to replace worned out suspension rubber parts...and they are very costly. I remember..on 300zx, when you replace all rubber parts on the shock/spring assembly..it cost around 140 bucks a piece AND YOU HAVE 4 OF THEM.

of course, you don't have to change them all. I would just change dust boots (generic ones available at pepboys for 4.99)

ask me any questions you come across.

  4. i've read an article a while back ago.

it stated that if your RPM is above 3500 on DOHC engines, you are wasting 50% extra gasoline.

higher octane fuel = better gas mileage

I don't see much harm in driving around with power mode on. However, you will probably have to do tranny flush more often than normal mode driving. In fact, change engine oil often if your driving harsh.

My last car had 260 000 miles (300zx twinturbo). did oil change every 1500 miles with regular (non-synthetic oil). I am doing oil change on my es300 every 3000 miles instead of 5000 with regular engine oil.

the lesson is..as long as you maintain your vehicle and take good care of it..you can ride it harsh. Afterall, if your transmission dies, you can buy another used one for around 4-600 bucks. (after while, you will have to replace the rear main seal anyways..same labor rate)

  5. yes.

i would imagine there would be only a few of us around here.

out of all the cars i've had before, lexus is one of the good cars

My last car was a 92 300zx Twinturbo. i had larger intercoolers, 1 piece driveshaft, intake, full exhaust, 550cc injector, boost controller. It was a very quick/fast car. That car is so fun to drive..you can feel the G at the every sharp turn and every acceleration was like playing an extreme sports. Oh..it hugs the road when weather is nice..and from time to time..when you want to play in the rain...440RWHP would tear your rear rubbers like nothing else.

tragically..this car got ran over three weeks ago by a 4X4 explorer...driven by a redneck with no insurance.

even after this supercar...i am surprised that i like lexus. It's a very well built car with minimal problems. (although i hate the location of the oil filter and how it drips all over your garage)

  6. it all worked fine until i put Phillips 9006 HID kit.

    after the install...

right side works good, left side blinks fast.

when i use emergency hazard light, both side comes on perfect..

I've checked the bulb and bulb was fine...but anyways..i'd changed the bulb to a new one.

    problem still exist.

only when i give left signal, it blinks FAST.

any word of wisdom would be appreciated.

  7. i've had this problem before on a few older cars. not on lexus.

    1. change your fuel filter (this is most ignored stuff)

    2. hit gas pedal about 3-4 times to start the car. if it doesn't start up, give 2-3 more gas. if it still doesn't start up..wait 10 minutes to flush the gas out of the combustion chambers (it's flooded with gas)

    3. check for fuel pressure

    that's about all i know.

  8. here's the deal.

i have phillips 9006 HID kit on my 95 es300. they work great..everything's plug and play.

took about 10 minutes to install both sides. Xenon i belive...is just the bulb. it plugs straight into your headlight harness. However, if your bulb is much higher wattage, it will burn your sockets off and you will be stuck with some problems.

seats..i am looking to do the swap also. You can buy two leather seats for the front for around 250 bucks at a junkyard. get that little button (for the switch on/off + wiring) and you are all set.

you can turn around and sell your old seats off on ebay. at the end, it will come out even.

*that is if you do your own stuff...labor is expensive on anything, so if you have to pay someone, this will be expensive*
