  1. Thanks my ls430!! :) Yes - austinls - I have changed my A/C filter. It was the first time it had been changed - apparently. Not a pretty site!! Thanks, Craig!! :)
  2. Hi VMF and AWJ!! :) I guess we can only go by our OWN personal experiences. Of the two Chrysler products that I've owned [a 2001 Jeep TJ and a 1996 Dodge Caravan Sport] both of those vehicles were absolutely problem free. And I mean problem free. Never once did I have to bring 'them' in for anything other than scheduled maintainance. I hope you're wrong about the future of the new 300's. Oddly enough [and sadly enough - I suppose] the fact that Mercedes is so closely connected to the 300's does not guarantee reliability. How times have changed. Craig!! :)
  3. I'm also thinking of getting new shocks. [opps - STRUTS!!] And like some of us - have often thought about getting a different type of strut [non-OEM - in other words] to stiffen up the ride a BIT. But perhaps by buying brand new OEM struts - the car would FEEL like it has stiffer struts. Is there logic to that thinking?! Thanks, Craig!! :)
  4. Hi Wes and my ls430!! :) MY A/C almost always smells of dirty socks when I first turn it on. [and I mean REALLY dirty!!] Is THAT the smell you're talking about Wes?! And what do you mean by 'de molder spray in the vent' - my ls430? Thanks, Craig!! :)
  5. Hi jason525!! :) That's interesting!! MY 1993 LS is getting VERY close to the 100,000 km mark. [which is about 62,000 miles] I wonder.. what colour is YOUR LS?! Mine is Black Jade with Black leather. [you can see it by clicking on the link found at the bottom of this message] Craig!! :)
  6. Come to think of it - I don't think that WIDE white walls [mounted on real wire wheels] would be out of place on the new Chrysler 300C. In fact - I think it might look pretty good. Depends on the style of car - I guess. But you would probably have to get 16" tires and wheels - just so there would be room for a wide white wall. Your '72 Buick Electra would indeed look odd WITHOUT white walls - 90LS400Lexus. And I agree - the tread pattern on some of those old bias-ply tires were quite neat. I remember some of those tires having sort of a plaid[sp?] style of tread. [a typical Scottish design] Craig!! :) ps and that photo of your LS with white walls was just a fake? Yeah right. No one believes that!! lol
  7. Hi VMF!! :) At the risk of sounding argumentative [and I don't really want to sound that way] would you say the the 300C is HALF the car the LS430 is?! I say that because you can buy TWO fully loaded 300C's for ONE LS430. [at least in Canada - you can] I agree - some of the interior 'bits' could use a little polish - but still.. hard to argue with a big 4-door American sedan that can get to 60 mph in just 5.3 seconds!! [according the Car&Driver magazine] Someone's customized 300C - gotta love that grill - could be an 'Imperial'!! Still... IF I ever bought one - I think I'd rather wait a year to see how well it holds up. I'm not worried about the car - overall - but the multi-displacement engine thing worries me a bit. Craig!! :)
  8. Personally - I like whitewall tires. I even miss them - sometimes. I remember quite fondly using S.O.S. pads on the white walls on my dad's '73 Imperial and '75 Mercury Marquis. But do they suit the LS400? Hmm.... not sure. A lot of what we think looks good - has a lot to do with what we're USED to seeing. But that applies to everything - I guess. [even people] Craig! :)
  9. Hi amf1932!! :) Although I haven't driven one - YET - I plan on doing so as soon as my local Budget Rent-a-Car gets some in. [apparently they bought 6 300's - and I think two of those are the '300C' model] I absolutely LOVE the look of the new 300's. It's the type of car I would design for myself. [if I could do such a thing!!] It appeals to me on so many levels. Everytime I see on on the road - my heart skips a beat. Admittedly - I've always been a big Chrysler fan. [1955 models and up - mostly] I used to own a 1962 Chrysler New Yorker. Have you ever seen one of those? The dashboard is especially interesting. It's so futuristically fantastic!! Check out my Yahoo Group - if you like!! CanadaCraig's Chrysler 300C Yahoo Group Craig!! :)
  10. Hi dcfish!! :) Well.. I took a look at that jpg. Very nice - but what are you trying to say? That I've entered the 'sunset' years?! :P Craig!! :) ps nice message - by the way!! [all kidding aside]
  11. Thanks PharmGuy!! :) And a great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY back to YOU!! [and your son!!] You know... if you don't FEEL older than 49 1/2 - chances are - you probably don't LOOK a day over .. umm..... 49 1/4. So that's good!! Craig!! :)
  12. Hi chucklarock!! :) MY Lexus service department 'guy' said - basically - the same thing. In fact - he said, "we have never replaced a fuel filter on the LS." MY filter was [finally] changed [but only after I insisted that it BE changed] because the fuel in the gas tank was obviously not quite as 'clean' as it should have been. [because it was allowed to sit for months and months at a time - every winter] IF your car is driving OK - and it has always been driven [on a regular basis] you might not need a new filter. But were not talking about a $500 part. It's not that expensive. So if you think it MIGHT help - change it. Craig!! :)
  13. Hi Guys!! :) Lately - I've been enjoying my '93 LS400. It's actually a very nice car. Changing the fuel filter made ALL the difference. But no doubt - so did changing the spark plugs, spark plug wires and having the valves adjusted. [among the many other 'things' that were done to 'fix' the car] Sure - it's not quite perfect - but it's pretty close. Lately I've been going out JUST for the sake of going for a drive. And I love that. [because that's why I bought the car] It took long enough - but here I am - someone who is GLAD they bought a Lexus!! [i wasn't all that sure - before - I can tell you!!] Thanks for the help. Craig!! :)
  14. Hi Guys!! :) Somewhat interesting Autoweek article regarding the very real possibility of a 'SuperLuxury' [i.e. 'SuperExpensive'] Lexus model. What do you think Lexus should do - IF anything - when it comes to the idea of creating an ultimate 'flagship' vehicle? AutoWeek Article on Future Lexus SuperLuxury Vehicle Craig!! :)
  15. Hi VMF, steviej, wolfie212003, blake918 and dcfish!! :D Thank you - all of you - for the wonderful birthday wishes. And wolfie212003..... Happy 31st Birthday!! Craig!! :D ps hey blake918 - believe me - I can relate to feeling older than you are. I swear I was born a 30 year old. [poor mom!!]
  16. Hi Guys!! :) As the subject says - I'll be 41 years old - on Tuesday. [the 27th of July] 41. Forty One. 4 times 10 - PLUS ONE. 30 plus 11. Hmm... no. Any way I say it - it just does NOT sound YOUNG. But then again - I guess if you're OLDER than 41 - 41 doesn't sound so bad. To someone who is 60 - maybe 41 is 'punksville'. But to someone who is 20 - 41 is 'old mans ville'. Hmmm.... The scary part of getting older - is that an uncomfortable little 'truth' begins to reveal itself. NO - in spite of what someone half my age might think - I am NOT slowly starting to become 'ok' with the idea of DEATH!! The same is true [which is even scarier] for someone who is 80 or older. We like to comfort ourselves - sometimes - by believing that 'old folks' are OK with the idea of BEING old. But that's not necessarily true. I don't FEEL 40 [or 41 - as the case will soon be] In fact - I don't FEEL all that different from when I was 18 or 28 or whatever. Lately - I've been catching a reflection of myself in store windows. [or whatever] I'm often struck by the fact that I'm NOT young anymore. I wonder who that OLDER guy is looking back at me. Just before I phone the police - to have that old creep arrested - I realize that 'creep' is ME!! lol My mom says the same thing. She often wonders WHO that old woman is looking back at her in the bathroom mirror. Do yourself a favour. Don't allow a person's AGE to decide for you - what you think of them. There are just as many wonderful 80 year olds - as there are 8 year olds. Something to think about. Craig!! :)
  17. Hi Guys!! :) You tell me - does this guy like the LS430 or what?! thecarconnection.com 2004 LS430 review Craig!! :)
  18. Thanks Everyone!! :) My LS is [still!!] MUCH better. Not quite as smooth as it ought to be at higher speeds - but maybe it will get better if I keep driving it. The car [up until I bought it - from the original owner] probably never went faster than 60 mph. [if that] Do you think I'm kidding myself - or is it possible that an 11 year old car that rarely [if ever] was driven fast or revved high - could still be in the 'break-in' phase? Craig!! :)
  19. Very nice looking cars - guys!! Thanks for posting photo's of them. [or links to photos] To see MY LS [and by the way - 1993 RULES - YAH!!] simply click on the link below!! Craig!! :)
  20. Hi Guys!! :) I'll spare you all of the details and simply say that my '93 LS now drives MUCH better thanks the the replacement of the fuel filter. Still chokes a little bit - when started cold - but now it can actually burn rubber if pushed hard. [while turning at a light or whatever] Quite satifying!! In fact - it's considerably more powerful. Dare I say it..... fun?! I'll give it another couple of weeks before I decide to trust 'her'. I want to go to Vancouver soon - and I don't want to have to worry about my car. Craig!! :)
  21. Hi mageson1!! :) To add to the '92 vs '93 list that 93LSOwner came up with.. the '93 also added an 8-way power passenger seat [vs the previous year's 4-way] and a digital odometre/trip metre. [now within the gauge cluster] Also within the gauge cluster was added a digital outside temperature display. The O/D button on the shifter was moved [i think] from the side facing the rear seat to the side facing the driver. [if that makes sense] The '93 and '94 LS were always on my list of 'got to haves'. I love the original LS 'look' but wanted the 8-way power passenger seat, the bigger wheels and tires [not to mention bigger brakes] and the passenger side airbag. Good luck!! Craig!! :)
  22. :) David received a parrot for his birthday. This parrot was fully grown with a bad attitude and worse vocabulary. Every other word was an expletive. [a 'swear word'] Those that weren't expletives were, to say the least, rude. David tried hard to change the bird's attitude and was constantly saying polite words, playing soft music, and anything else that came to mind. Nothing worked. He yelled at the bird and the bird got worse. He shook the bird and the bird got madder and ruder. Finally, in a moment of desperation, David put the parrot in the freezer. For a few moments he heard the bird squawking, kicking and screaming and then, suddenly, all was quiet. David, frightened that he might have actually hurt the bird, quickly opened the freezer door. The parrot calmly stepped out onto David's extended arm and said, "I'm sorry that I offended you with my language and actions. I ask for your forgiveness." David was astounded at the bird's change in attitude and was about to ask what changed him when the parrot continued, "May I ask what the chicken did?" :)
  23. The J.D. Power results are in. J.D. Powers Craig!! :)
  24. You may be right - SRK - but all I can go by is my own personal experience. Yes - perhaps - it was the tires [and nothing specifically to do with their speed rating] but all I can say is that the T-Speed rated Michelin X-One's that WERE on my car handled horribly - that's why I changed them for the Bridgestone Turanza LS-V's. I'm convinced [for the most part] that the higher speed rating of the LS-V's have a lot to do with WHY they are better handling tires. [in comparison to the X-One's - at least] Craig!! :)
  25. Hi AlmightyLexus97!! :) It's important to realize that the 'Turanza' name has been used on several Bridgestone tires. The one's I put on my '93 LS are the Turanza LS-V. I'm quite happy with them. Perhaps the original Goodyear GA's or a set of Michelin MXV4's would be a BIT quieter - maybe - but overall I'm satisfied. The Turanza's are very good in the rain and seem to be wearing quite well. Do you know what type of Turanza's your car has on?! Craig!! :)
