  1. Would someone please tell me where is the drain for transmission fluid and what grade should I use for new tansmission fluid??
  2. No, I did not use any buttons and also defrost was not on when I started the car.
  3. This morning when I started my car and while I was waiting to get it warm, A/C got ON by itself. This thing happened earlier also but did not paid attention to it. Do you think this is some sort of symptom for some A/C service or so?
  4. How do I get this code? Is there any setting in the radio from which I can retrieve SEC code? Thanks!
  5. Hi Guys, I'm jumping to do spark plug and wiring replacement this weekend. I read a note few weeks ago that it is better to remove negative battery terminal as a saftey measure, which I agree. ;) Also, I read that I need to remember some code for raido? Whats that?
  6. Hi Guys, Please bear with me since I'm new to DIY. I started it when I had to replace O2 sensor. It was nice job done with no problem and saved a bunch. Then, I worked on putting new front rotors (last weekend), although trouble with brake fluid bleeding (I learned) and saved a lot. I'm getting more and more excited to DIY for atleast basic maintenance stuffs (engine is way too far). I just wants to Thank you for all your support during this (learning) process. Does anyone has any instructions for oil change and transmission fluid flush? Any recommendation for oils/transmission fluid?
  7. You sold '92 with 72K for $7.2G, that car had plenty of life left in it. Good Luck in finding your dream car!
  8. Just a quick update, I went to Midas for bleeding the brakes and did if for $20 and now functioning properly. Thanks all for your respone!
  9. I would like to fix this problem by myself, but I guess its too late now. Due to working schedule and garage availability, I doubt I can do it during this week and cannot wait until next weeked to tackel this problem. I might as well go and do brake fluid flush at some workshop. I TRUELY APPRECIATE YOUR FEEDBACK & SUGGESTIONS!! I should have been more careful while bleeding. Lesson Learned!! -Kailash
  10. I just gave up today after working for 2 days on putting new front rotors. As suggested by SRK, I might have messed up cylinder seal or something. I'm going to take to Midas tomorrow and see what they says Thanks for your HELP guys!! -Kailash
  11. I did the bleeding exactly as you said..Pump about 3 times and hold it depressed the third time...then open the bleeder bolt and close it while the brake pedal is still depressed....then release the pedal and repeat the process about 3~4 times on each wheel.... I did this for 3 times already...... As you mentioned about master cylinder may have wiped out its seals..I don't know but I'm just guessing... Oh man, I hope I don't have to put new master... Any other idea or suggestions...?
  12. Hello Guys, I bleed two times starting from rear passanger, rear driver, front passanger, front driver. I spend the whole morning, but NO SUCCESS. There is pressure when car is not ON. But as soon as I turn ON the car, the pedal pressure drops and it goes all the way in. Also, when I turned off the car, there is some air noise coming from near by air filter. Any idea what is going on? Should I put my old rotors back? One of the old rotor is messed up since I used hammer to remove (it was stucked to the hub) :cries: -Kailash
  13. Hey, Thanks guys ;) ! I'll try tomorrow (your suggestions/experience). I'll be sure to post whatever happens!! Once again, THANKS for your feedback!!!!!! P.S. I knew, I LIKED this forum VERY MUCH for OBVIOUS REASONS!!
  14. UF3, Will it work this time (I have about 30% of Midas CIRAMIC pads left) if I don't use BREMBO pads? Thanks for your info!!! -Kailash
  15. Thanks 95LS400Bob! Does it matter which side you bleed first, since I and my wife were the only people around? How do I simultaneously bleed both sides? I tried that and I noticed on side (while my wife was pushing pedal), which I closed it first, no bubbles. But on other side (which the bolt was still open), it was bubbling. I guess, I have been good to keep one side air free. But, even it that was true, that side of wheel or rotor/pads should work...right? When I checked after test drive, none of the rotors were hot...I don't know, I WILL have to try what you suggested tomorrow... I'll keep you posted...THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!! -Kailash
  16. Guys, Help needed with front brakes. Today I spent whole day trying to put new front rotors. The new rotors I put were by Brembo. First of all, those calliper bracket 17mm bolts were so stinking tight that I broke two sockets, isn't that frustrating :chairshot: ? Anyway, after spending lot of time, I finally got them dismantle. Put new rotors. I used the same pads, because it still has lots of life left. I just replace them late last year. While compressing caliper piston, I open the bleeder valve so that old fluid doesn't go back to master cylinder. After, putting everything back, used help of my wife for bleeding brake fluid. She pumped the brakes until master cylinder was empty and pedal would not return, I put new brake fluid and again bleed little bit. I fill the master cylinder all the way to full. I thought whatever I did was correct. But now, there is no pressure in the brake paddle, it goes all the way down. When, the car is running, the paddle even becomes worst, meaning it goes in very smothly. I know it is not normal. Okay, while pressing the paddle and releasing, it makes kind of whistling noise everytime I push the pedal. I went for a testing drive and it is dangerous since the front brakes are not function (may be not functioning at all, I guessed so because after test drive, I touched the rotor and it was barely hot although rear rotors were sizlling hot).I dismantel the caliper again but could not find anything wrong. I bleed little bit again to see if it works. But no improvement. I would greatly appreciate your help with this since I have whole day tomorrow to work on. :cries: Any ideas, any suggestions, would be very helpful. Thanks a lot!! -Kailash
  17. Thank you guys and I'll make sure to post one question at a time! :D
  18. I replaced engine coolant. On the engine coolant reservior, it says add 6 litres of coolant through filler hole (front of the engine). And about 4 liters in through reservior while idling the engine. I could not find "filler hole". So, I put about 4 litres of clean water and ran enigne and flushed it, drained it. Then, I put through reservior about 8 litres in total of coolant. It won't take anymore of it. But as per instructions on coolant reservior, it should take about 10 litres...after putting 8 liters, it is full now. Any idea?? Also, does any one have instructions on how to replace spark plugs and wires? It is time for me to change timing belt but I would rather try doing myself instead of paying butt load of money at workshop. Does anyone has any instructions? Thanks!
  19. Thanks guys! Denny, that pdf instructions is great! I have to wait until next weekend for this job since I did not received my parts last Friday. -Kailash
  20. Thanks for your suggestions! :D Saini_Kai@Hotmail.com
  21. Thanks for your previous reponses! My next project is to work on replacing front rotors and serpentine belt. I have learned after buying this car ('93 LS400) that "Work On Your Own" to fix the car. I'm in the learning process on "how to do stuff" on my car. I ordered online the front brake rotors by BREMBO. It cost me $150 for pair. Midas estimated $400 for pair. 1) Do I need any special tool to compress the caliper piston to put the pads back on?? Any suggestions to be taken care of? 2) How do I change Serpentine belt? I do not see any room to work on. Thanks Guys! -Kailash
  22. Put the car in Park. Adjust the seat according to your comfort. Press Set and L1 or L2 with very small lag between them (Press set first before L1 or L2). It will make a long bip sound which means it is set now. -Kailash
  23. I had the same problem with squeaking when I start the car especially during the rainy day. I'm pretty sure that the problem is with serpentine belt since it is old and getting cracked. I need to replace it and see if that noise goes away. The noise doesn't come always but only during rainy day. Any suggestions on "how to change" serpentine belt? It looks like there is no room to replace this belt. Thanks. -Kailash
  24. Just FYI. I replaced one oxygen sensor in my car last Friday. ;) I bought the oxygen sensor socket for easy removal. But, the socket, although the standard size, did not fit the O2 sensor because O2 sensor in LS '93 is longer then standard O2 socket. Any suggestions on changing rotors (rear wheels)? Do I need to bring it to workshop or it is self do-able? -Kailash
  25. How much does it costs for transmission serviced? It is just doing transmission fluid flush? Thanks for your reply!
