  1. I have for the past year been searching for the center console bezel on my 2002 SC430, the ash tray cover does not function as it should in other words I can not just touch the cover and have it open, the dealership said that I need to order the whole unit for $495, amazing since I know it is just one little plastic part that is missing. I know this because I have taken the whole unit out and inspected the parts and the gears are there but that one piece is missing hat keeps the gears in place. Anyway I have noticed in the past year that there are very few ads on Ebay, craiglists etc for SC430s, why is that?
  2. Just wanted to correct my earlier repsonse, I have a Toyota Solara, not a Supra. Sorry for the misinformation.
  3. I switched to non run flats and am glad that I made the change, I also have a Toyota Supra. I had the Supra spare (155) mounted on my 2002 SC 430 to see if it would clear the calipers, everything checked out OK. I then placed the spare in the trunk and it was a tight fit (155 vs 145) but I could close the trunk and still put the top down. Croix de runflats
  4. Ok, I had my tires rotated and balanced after 3,000 miles and they had very little tread wear. The Michelins' Pilot Sport AS Plus have a 60,000 mile warranty so that is good news. I brought along the spare tire from my Solara (tire size T155/70R17)and had the techs place the tire on to check clearance of the calipers. It fits great, no problems. When I got home I placed the spare in the trunk wheel well and it was a little tight but it fits and the top can operate. So I am definatley ready for a cross country road trip. Good Luck.
  5. They are Michelin Pilot Sport Plus. I did not have any other changes made, but I am monitoring the tread wear closely just to make sure.
  6. I have a 2002 SC 430 and a 2006 Supra, does anyone know if I can use the Supra spare on the Lexus. The bolt pattern is the same I believe, the Supra spare is 5 x 114.3. I have changed from RFT to NRFT and the ride is incredible.
  7. Is it from the body or top, as you mention both. If body I would check engine mounts as they have known issues or earlier models. Thank you, I will check. It is from the top I think.
  8. Help! I have a 2002 SC430 with over 100,000 miles and I have started hearing a noise that kinda sounds like the top is out of alignment. This sound only occurs when I travel from a flat surface to any position that is higher or lower, for example going over a speed bump or driving up my driveway. This has only started over the last few months. It's as though I need some type of torsion bar to keep the body all together, at least that's what I am thinking. Of course I can have the dealer check it out, I can just imagine what that would cost. Any thoughts?
  9. I DID IT, I purchased Pilot Sport AS with a 45,000 mile warranty, a can of Slime and air compressor. Now it's off on a road trip. By the way the ride is terrific but I am not sure it seems to me that I am running a second slower off the start. I should have changed years ago, thanks to this forum for all the knowledge (on replacing RFTs).
  10. Thank you for your quick response. I am looking for a tire store, I was not very clear in my question, sorry about that.
  11. I am ready for a road trip from Northen Cal to So Cal, while I do not need much of an excuse to travel, this time I am in the need of a tire and wheel update for my 2002. Any recommendations from the So Cal group as to the best bet for a tire and wheel purchase and install would be greatly appreciated.
  12. I would try the TireRack, check their website I beleive Big O tires installs thier tires. The Lexus dealership in Pleasanton was willing to install non runflats on SC430.
  13. I love the wheels, what manufacturer/model are they? I am looking to cahnge out my wheels and tires very soon.
  14. There is a local gas station that has 100 Octane fuel, there seems to be quite a demand in the area. There are other questions in this forum about lower octane but what effects will higher octane have if any?
  15. how sleezy. Sorry to read about it. Is anybody aware of an aftermarket fix? I decided to check out a local tire dealer. They informed that their sensor tool (a scanner that can identify specifically which sensor is bad) works on 80% of the sensors on the market. Unfortunately Lexus falls in the 20%, has anyone had this same experience? Why doesn't the Lexus dealer have this scanner or is that what they charge $160 for? Ugh!
  16. I just now had the same problem so I decided to take the car into the Lexus dealer, they were very responsive to have me come in. Unfortunatley they quoted me $160 to perform an analysis to find out which sensor may be malfunctioning. I will check out the UK site to disconnect the sensors, I refuse to pay for an answer that I already know.
  17. Any reply yet? I'm in the same boat with my 2005. Any reply yet? I'm in the same boat with my 2005. No. Not yet. Hi Guys! I've got my SC430 since March 2001, so I had time to test some tires, and here is my take on that subject. Run flat tires were total mismatch for that car, so I changed them as soon as I could. My first set after run flat tires were Kumo. They were actually not bad. Then, I switched to Yokohama AVS ES100. I think they are a very good match for this car, and, since I am a cheapscape, I am happy that they don't cost arm and a leg. You must keep in mind though that I live in Southern California, and winter conditions as you know them are not the factor. I think that Sumitomo HTR Z2 may also be a good choice, but I haven't tried them yet. They are so inexpensive that it scares me. Since you are thinking about changing tires, you may want to change the cumber of the rear wheels. The original setting is too much of a negative angle for a cruiser because that is what the SC430 really is. No, I am not complaining, I am just realistic. I actually love my car. I also bought a 12V portable compressor, a fix a flat kit, and a can of tire repair in case I get a flat. I have had this car for almost six years now and I didn't get even one flat tire yet. I guess I must be lucky. In addition, I bought an extra set of wheels on ebay, and I keep one of those wheels with a tire on it in my garage. Enjoy your car. Is there anything that has to be done with the tire pressure sensors?
  18. Well the problem has been resolved! The glass installation was the root cause. The right latch was out of position causing the switch not to activate the motor to engage the hooks, the dealer reinstalled the right side assembly and that fixed the problem. The glass comany paid for the repairs.
  19. I had the windshield replaced with aftermarket glass and now the top will not latch so the top does not close. The window people are saying it must be a faulty relay switch and the lexus dealer is saying it is that the glass is incorrect and is pulling the pillar forward? Has anyone experienced this? If it is the glass then I expect the glass company to pay for repairs, if it is a relay switch I expect that falls under warranty, any help?
