  1. Very interesting- I did dd a very small amount of brake fluid, as the brake light came on a couple of times- Adding the little fluid totally took care of that, I'll bet you're correct. Way too cold to do anything tonight, but will check it out. Thank you very much for the tip- these are incredible cars even with a few little flaws. Allan
  2. All right, gochya. Thanks for clearing that up. In that case is there any products anybody can recommend for internal engine clean up? Errr....yeah, seafoam. Yes there are other cleaning agents that help...Adding one quart of tranny fluid in with the oil between oil changes once a year is a good idea...The one quart of ATP tranny fluid acts as a cleaning detergent when added with the 4 other quarts of oil...Helps free up and clean sticky valves and lifters.... Other products like STP concentrated fuel injector cleaner can help too...Although they say to ad one bottle to one full tank of gas...I have always added two bottles to an almost empty tank of gas maybe every other year and it seems to help a little with dirty fuel injectors... What else for cleaning? Fluid changes really is the best for keeping things clean...Synthetics fluids changes are always a good idea, filter changes (fuel, oil, and air) helps..Stay off of dirt roads as much as possible, change the oils and fluids regularly, use premium gas and you should be good to go after a good seafoaming treatment....Also spray cleaning the throttle body with STP carb cleaner once a year can't hurt especially if you are experiencing a rough or bouncing idle...
  3. I have a '93 SC 300 purchased 12/06 115K, Real clean car, except periodically the traction light comes on and stays on. Car acts like hesitation under hard acceleration - doesn't misfire at idle. Put injector cleaner in gas tank- Valvolene product, seemed to improve, but still there. Tail pipes look good grey- not black sooty, no smoke- have driven about 1500 miles- not leaking or burning oil! Am thinking Mass Air Sensor and air intake may be carboned up? Havent pulled spark plugs as a ton of crap to R&R to get them out. Car has tiny plug wires- 4.5mm + -. Give me some ideas. skipper
  4. Could this be my day, put a can of Sea Foam in tank and have not felt the miss. Maybe injectors needed a bath. Car has 136,000 miles. still missing, only in drive though when stopped. The tach shows nothing abnormal. I have read on this forum others with same problem. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  5. GENERALLY, when an engine "pings" it has a great deal to do with the timing of the spark -detonation process to the position of the pistons. I'm not fasmiliar enough with the model, but sounds to me like the timing is set too fast. !Removed! the timing by turning the distributor back. I found with a german car I formerly owned someone had the overhead cam belt off- then didn't get everything lined up correctly- talk about a ping- thought the entire valve train was going to expose it's self. See if the distributor is loose?
