Since i have owned this car : 1998 Es300 with 135k , now 150k i have had an issue with the ac. Whenever i use the ac , the AC light comes on..blinks..and continues to blink. I cannot get truely cold air. When i look into the hood i see a relay/cable unplugged and i think its for an AC component. The question is, do i risk anything by plugging in the relay/connector if its a failed part ? If its plugged in, can any part of the AC unit cause more damage to the vehicle if i attempt to use it?

I am thinking of putting an AV unit into my 98 ES and was curious as to whether anyone has attempted/succeeded in doing so.... I would love to have a nice black AV unit and get some great New age features into the system and just wantedto know what hurdles to expect, and what i should look out for in general. Some of these new AV units have some good stuff. There are even car comps that can do some amazing stuff. Ive heard of some crazy car mods with some av units and really am interested. Bluetooth functionality...Nav..Built in Sirius Radio..even Hard drive compatability to load aplications/movies/music/ etc... on to the system..anyway. Hit me back with what problems i would have in a 98 ES install of a AV UNIT into the dash in place of the OEM headunit. What can be done? What Cant? What options do i have etc.. Thanks for your help guys!.

Question is, do you want to install the ML..or are you looking for a non lexus 3rd party screen/navi multimedia center?

1998 ES300 130K got it for $5800 Clean Carfax/All service done. Its in beautiful condition. Had all its work done. Black with Grey cladding.

I haggled the Price down to 6100. I imagine, at 140,000K the car would not be running as smooth as it is had it not had its 90k done. Whats TB? And i checked for oil and all that and it looked clean. I need to double check, but i think its pretty clean. Will open it up a little more tomorrow and give it a more thorough inspection. at 6100 what do you think...think its worth it? Should i be worried about the miles..or is it more about getting the bang for the buck?

I found a 1998 Lexus ES300 for 6600. It has 140k miles. Interios is clean. Black on Black - feel like a mafia member in it, but its a beaut cosmetically. Drove it around, tranny is great, suspension is smooth. Braking is smooth, even and the pads look good. Tires are in good shape as well. I have not checked for the sludging issues yet and im not sure exactly where im to look if i go back to the lot to check this car out. Im just trying to get some perspective on the car before diving in. Where do i check for sludging..and what am i looking for...whats a good sign/bad one. Some brief detail please. Say the ES is in good shape and is there is no sludging...should i worry about 140k on a 98'? Does it deserve its price? Should it be lower. Again...just need some perspective.. Thanks again. This board has been helpful and really turned me onto the lexus brand as well.
