  1. ok, I must be an idiot..... I can program the keys no problem, I programed 3 and I have 1 that I bought with the remote case empty and bought another key used for the "guts" installed them and programed the key to start the truck... Now, im trying to program the remote and I can't get into any of the modes, the truckacts like im just doing it for the heck of it... i've tried cycling the key on/off 1 -2 and 3 times with no response from the RX except the security light slowly blinks as usual.. I've tired it with the new key, and our existing key to see if i could at least "confirm" it... no luck Open door key in-out cycle 5 times lock/unlock close open door cycle 5 times lock/unlock key in-on-off-out at this point am I supose to get a response from the truck? if not i went ahead and pressed the buttons on the new remote, in order nothing! i've tried it with new key, old key, old remote, new remote, :cries:
  2. i've actualy pulled the panel off now, and when i messed with the whole assembly it would work the light sometimes, meaning there's probably just a short in it, but the door-lock is still a no-go... im waiting on the manual to see exactly how to remove the actuator/latch assembly so i don't screw it up, if i can get it out, i can more than likely fix it :)
  3. you may want to run some fuel injection cleaner thru it also, along with cleaning the MAF again, all these codes indicate a lean mixture to me. too much air, not enough fuel, could be maf or fuel clogged up, also check/change the fuel filter if it's due..
  4. there are no pin switches, it believe it's in the actual striker latch.
  5. I'm some-what of a mechanic and i also buy/sell cars on the side... a maintained honda or toyota will go over 300k... my 2 year old tacoma has 175 and has had zero mechanical failures, these are just a toyota, I JUST bought our rx300 2 days ago... it has 155,000 yes, and i bought it... gave 9k for it and it's well worth it, all records at the lexus dealer show everything done on time. I have no quams about it... people now a days think still that 100,000 miles means a car is worn out when in reality it's hard to find any used car that has under 100k, AND i've seen cars with 40k miles that are abviously worn out, and ones like my RX that look like it has 20k miles when it has 155k... it's all how you take care of it..... at 11k i'd say your in the ballpark, just find the nicest one that's not been doctor'd up.... and if you are willing to buy one with over 100k you'll save a LOT of$$ more than the maintaince difference you'd experience in my opinion..... FYI my wife's 96 explorer we bougth 4 yrs ago with 141k, it now has 181k and we've had a total of $500 in repair bills (fuel pump, and IAC) total out of pocket cost with pmts and resale is about $60/month... BEAT THAT..... This new rx she has should be around the same in 4-5 yrs of ownership :)
  6. I have the same problem but with the driver's side, AND my power lock doesn't work either... I've read that there's a small computer so i disconnected the battery so it would "re-boot" but to no avail.... I did notice the actual door latch mechanism looks to have an extra switch that may activate the lights, but even pushing it in didn't do anything.... I tried to remove my door-panel but can't find all the screws/etc... and i didn't want to break it. sooooo... im in the same boat, If somone can tell me how to get that dang door-panel off, i'll pull the switch out and see if that's the culprit and let yall know and i could take some pics too... mine is a 99 also..
  7. ok, im new to all this stuff these cars have we just bought a 99 rx and before i go digging for the regular car fixes, These are my simptons.... driver side door lock doesn't electricly work (switch, nor the remote but remote does work the other locks in the truck) 2nd the dome light doesn't come on with the drivers door open, 3rd the remote works, and the red light blinks, but it doesn't automaticly lock the doors NOR does it ever set off the alarm... Im reading these trucks have computers for the door locks, headlights and freeking everything.... also on a side note, HOW the heck do you remove the headlight assembly?? i removed the 2 screws on top. i need to get the condensation out then seal it up better... im not an idiot I build hotrods
