  1. ****UPDATE****

Logged into my LFS account... its closed... So I called them and I'm told they do they to prevent customers from making excess payments???? hmmm Ooookay..

Anyway.. I was trying to find out about my security deposit.. and to my horror.. I will not know until they send out a 3rd party to inspect the car.. The dealership doesn't do the inspection.. So if they feel like I owe them $2000 for rear tires and the scratches from road debris on the front.. then I'm SOL.. Guess they could stick me for $5000 if they wanted and I would not have a chance to buy it and I'm at the mercy of LFS...

So I guess the wait is on.....

  2. I will be leasing mine next time. I drive a lot, about 20k a year. My husband was of the opinion that this stops me from doing a lease. However, he says he's learned otherwise, and this could save us lots of money. We go through cars every two years, so this would be great!

P.S. Did the dealer give you any problems with the lease return?

Was a sad day... drove up.. they came out... took my tags off.. and I had to sign a piece of paper... that was it..

I felt like I was living my dog at the Animal Shelter.. strange feeling...

  3. Thanks....FYI is was Lexus of Northboro that let me walk, used 07 IS250. Used car mgr blew the sale because he tried to confuse me with numbers. When I called him on it, he got flustered and left. Came back, extended his hand for handshake and said they could not do the deal. Not exactly the way to negotiate on a car. We were only $1k apart!!! Guess they did not want to sell the car. Other dealers had similar cars for $1-2k less with less milage, but they would not budge........ I have my eye on one at chambers.....wish me luck....

Stay away from Northboro.. When I was looking for my IS350 a few years ago.. the salesman wouldn't even look me in the eye when he was talking.. Too busy looking for someone that had a suit on I guess...

Went out to Balise in Springfield.. Great people.. not the fanciest Lexus Dealership.. but they WANT your business and do what ever it takes for it..

Its less then 2 mins off the Mass Pike and 91...

  4. :( Its been a FAST two years... I'm going to be dropping off my baby girl tomorrow.. I have to say... right now.. (not sure what they will try and shift me with at the dealer) I'm 100% satisfied with getting this car... Its been a dream car... and a car with memories that will last a life time..

geeezz I feel like its my last day of High School...

Anyway... I was just wondering if anyone had any pointers or tips when I take it back and drop it off? I've heard of horror stories from other dealers... just wondering if Lexus is the same way?

Just curious.. what are you replacing the IS with...another one?

Also I am in MA. Which Dealer are you leasing from ..Northboro..Sharon, Watertoen or Danvers?

Balise in Springfield.. Northborogh would not give me the time or day when I was looking for one...

My plan was to get the F when it came out.. but not with the price point they ended up at... So now I'm just going to wait.. I have a car to drive.. so not in a hurry for anything now...

  6. A few years ago my plan was to pick up the IS350 on a 2 year lease.. and trade it in on the ISF... thinking $55 for one with everything... ML the works.. I figured a nice $10k preimum.. to see them now at $65k wow.. $20k more for 110 more hp....

Seems like they are setting on the show room floors... I remember waiting 3 months for my IS350 to come in...

How many IS-F are they planning on building?

  7. I honestly don't see how they will sell them for 60k. I just left the Lexus dealership here in Orlando, and the IS 350 is listed for 62k. I think the real price is going to up around 80k. I don't have any facts on that, it's just an opinion. I could very well be wrong.

I honestly don't see them selling them for $60k+ myself.. but not for your reason... My IS350 cost me a little over $40k.. the MSRP was $43.5k... it pretty much has everything but the ML... Now how can they expect to get over a $20k premium for only a 1/2 sec increase in the 0-60?

The $60k market is a very crowded market... If I had $65k to spend on a car.. my short list would look like this...

    Jaguar XF Supercharged

    Lexus GS 450h

    BMW 550i

    MB E550

    Infinite M45

    MB C63 AMG

or look for a super nice used 2007 M5... That would beat the IS-F in all specs....... B)

Guess time will tell.. The price point is around $50k starting... and $55k fully loaded IMHO to sell them well..

  8. Ive heard that i shouldnt let the car idle to warm up, but that the same time i was always taught to warm it up or its no good for the car. Which one is it? does anybody have any documentation from lexus? I need proof. Im tired of wives' tales.

Have no clue.. but will take a common sense guess... When you first start it... give it a few secs... 5-10? (depend on the outside temp) to let the oil and fluids go through the engine.. then GO!!!

  9. i have a 6.1 nave and heard that someone had a dealer disable the gray out or block features when driving. Is this true? does it void warranty? anybody think of anythign yet? i dont want to void warranty and dont feel comfortable cutting wires in my car. also what about a way to watch dvds from my nav while driving, w/out ever having to buy the ML package? I know its possible but give me your input on what it'll take. after a while who knows. i might not care about the warranty and just go for it.

The Nav Discloser.. I would highly doubt that any dealer would disable it do to the awesome legal system in the US!! Its a sue sue sue world... and it would be hard for me to see anyone dealer would put themselves in that position...

Not sure about the DVD... wasnt able to get the ML package on mine... I've been trying to find a ML on a IS in Mass just to see what it sounds like... no luck... strange because ML HQ is located in Mass.

  10. i have the first generation adaptive lights on my RX which should be the same as yours. You should be able to tell a difference. Ill try to get a video but its hard to turn and get a good shot at night.

Thanks!! I'll try and get a video of mine also.. I looked on Youtube and couldnt find anything...

  11. okay i have some ideas and want some input.

How about installing a computer in my car? I could keep it in the trunk and install monitors in the front. What can i do about power consumption. considering the computer would be about $500 what would cost be for everythign else? what about mounting a lap top? where would i mount it and still be able to have a passanger? help me think.

I hate ppl that tail gate!!! i never do it and believe that its evil. Is it possible display the rear view camera while driving regularly just to see how close the punk is? i accidentally put the car in reverse while driving once and nothing happend but the camera turned on!! i was suprised and impressed. Lexus safety features. but i dont want to make it a habbit of doing so. send those ideas.

dvd console using nav screen. the computer idea or dvd player using the nav screen? possible? after market switch but who cares!! that'd be awesome.

any reccomendations you guys could make or new ideas would be awesome. lets just type, read, and discuss.

Tablet PC with built in Verizon or Cingular Service...

  12. I notice it a lot more on the right than I do on the left.

Mostly because the right functions at any speed, even a complete stop.

The left requires that the car is moving at approx 15 mph.

I have to really be ripping around dark left-hand corners to notice the left light moving, but the right is very noticeable.

The IS's AFS won't pivot when the car's stopped.

After doing my research... I found out the dealer didnt know what he was talking about.. (shocker)... the ES has a diffrent Adaptive Headlight system.. "With the available Dual-swivel Adaptive Front Lighting System both headlamps can turn to help illuminate curves. At speeds above 19 mph, both headlamps will swivel into the curve of the road. At lower speeds, the right or left headlamp will rotate up to 15 degrees." So I guess the ES can go left and right 15 degrees... also I think the speed is different.. It seemed to turn with the wheels.. Speed didn't matter..

    Oh well.. that sucks...

  13. It should be mildew. It happens in summer only although I park my car in my garage.

I'll try to turn the AC off a couple of minutes before I turn my engine off.

But is there any easy way to get the filter out and blow it with some dry air or at least to dry it?

    Thanks for your responses.

I had this in my Toyota truck about 10 years ago.. the Dealer blew some stuff in it to kill it... It worked...

  14. So what come with the nav package then?

I couldn't get to the link, so I'm not sure what car you're asking about.

If it's the G, I know that the Navigation package is $2,100 - but it requires that you also have the Premium package, which costs $2,350.

What do you get for your $4,450?

    Premium Package:

Power sliding tinted glass sunroof with one-touch open/close, tilt feature and sliding sunshade

    - Infiniti Studio on Wheelsâ„¢ by Bose® premium audio system with 24-bit Burr-Brown DAC, single-feed 6-disc CD autochanger with MP3 playback capability, Radio Data System (RDS), and ten speakers, including 3-way component front door speakers with 10-inch subwoofers and a parcel shelf-mounted subwoofer

    - Heated front seats

    - 2-way power driver’s seat lumbar support

    - Memory system for driver’s seat, steering wheel and outside mirrors

    - Driver's seat, steering wheel and outside mirror position synchronization

    - One-touch auto-up/down rear windows with safety auto-reverse feature

    - Power tilt and telescoping steering column synchronizes gauge cluster with column for improved vision

    - Automatic anti-glare rearview mirror with HomeLink® Universal Transceiver and compass

    - Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System

    - Heated outside mirrors

    Navigation Package:

    - Infiniti Navigation System (hard disk drive-based) with touchscreen, Lane Guidance and 3-D building graphics

    - XM® satellite radio

The Technology package, for an additional $1,100 then adds:

    - RearView Monitor

Its the $4400 package the ML pack???? If it is.... U LUCKY S O B!!!!! If I get the F next year... I'm going to wait it out for the ML Package this time... On the TL.. I love the looks.. but they are a dime a dozen...

  15. turning right gives it only 5 degrees turnage, which is basically nothing. Turning left gives you 15 degrees.

    This I didn't know...sorry for the Apple/Orange comparison.

My G turns 15 degrees to the right and 17 degrees to the left.

That may explain why I noticed them turning so much, compared to your findings in the IS.

I wonder if the ES350 has a wider field like your G...

I would still belive that the lights that turns would be more then just a small beam... :censored: wish I never had this loaner.. lol

  16. its most likely broken, if not then you got a "lemon" light. Keep in mind that turning right gives it only 5 degrees turnage, which is basically nothing. Turning left gives you 15 degrees, and that is much much more noticable. I love them...

i would go back to the dealership, have hten test drive it with me in the car at night, and then see what they say. And then, if we do ocme ot the conclusion that they arent working at top notch turnage, then i would request a new headlight housing unit.

I still have the Loaner... and I'm heading out this evening to do just that...

  17. I MYSELF DON'T THINK THAT THIS ADAPTIVE HEADLIGHT IS FOR REAL. IT DOES NOT WORK IN MY CAR EXCEPT WHEN I START IT. THE FUNNY THING IS, AT HIGH SPEED (70 MPH) the light is not enough.

I thought the same thing... then I drove the ES350 loaner... WOW... thats all I can say... Its night and day difference..

  18. I usually just leave the power button on all the time.. Lately.. every now and then... when I really get on it... it seems to hesitate like its not getting enough fuel or something... Last week I took my car in to get a few items fix.. mainly the new brake pads... Lexus couldn't find the issue... but said the Power Button should not be used all the time...

Anyone else drive with the power button on all the time? Any issues?

  19. WOW... for over a year now... I've been driving my IS with broken adaptive headlights... During the past few days my IS has been at the dealer.. For a loaner.. they gave me a ES350.. I was looking at maybe getting a ES350 next time.. but after the past few days.. No Thank you! But that’s another story..

Anyway.. last Friday.. I was driving home.. and I was shocked by how much the Adaptive lights on the ES worked… even my GF was like “wow wish yours did that”… Right now on my car… when your turning.. you can barley see a small beam turning… sort of on a time delay… it sucks!! So I called the dealer and asked if the ES and IS had the same type of Adaptive system… Evidently they do… So I hope they get fixed…

    ;)

LOL... Turns out yours have been broken all this time?!?!

I have adaptive headlights on the G and I love them.

    They work incredibly well.

I wish they auto-leveled like in the IS though. :blushing:

Now I'm not sure... Lexus told me the computer shows them working fine... and even the "Master Tech" took it home last night and said they are working just fine... but if they are the same as the ES350.. then THEY ARE NOT... unless the ES350 is broke and to loose... I really dont know what they are suppose to do...

All I know is.. on my IS.. when your turning... it looks like a MAG flashlight beam is turning a little... thats it... and even then.. you have to look close to see it... on the ES.. the whole thing moves....

But then again... the "Master Tech" told me that my doors that will not stay open are working fine also... My gf has had her leg caught in the door a few times.. even bruised it... I'm in the habit of just keeping my foot out until I'm ready to exit the car.... grrrrrrrrrr

Anyone have a video of what the IS Adaptive Headlights are suppose to look like!???

  20. Am I the only one that feels the adaptive headlights are a joke? When they are testing... they make people look when you start the car.. but for a real world drive... I just can not see the expense....

    Anyone else?

  21. to be honest, with a backup camera you dont need the IPA. And you can usually tell the front distance.

I wish the front had it...

I remember reading the NAV Parking Assist section of the online manual from this website, and it was talking about Front corner sensors. Maybe you have it already and not know about it.

Only the very corners... I'm talking about front ones that will allow you to get close when your parking or pulling into a garage...

  22. i have a few questions regarding these features. i'm not sure if they are functioning properly or my car has some problems

    1) how drastic do your headlights turn left and right with your wheel?

    2) can you hear a blower going under your seats when you turn your seat heaters to 3. I know you can hear a blower when you set it to cold "3"

I wish they did away with the Adaptive Headlights... They are great for showing off to your friends when they are riding with you at night... but thats about it...

  23. Got the chance to spend an extended period of time with my new IS 250. Surprisingly, I found a couple fo things I didn't like. First of all, there is a paint chip in the front hood, almost dead center. This is not a paint chip which was caused by a rock, etc. It is on the edge of the hood, facing the driver, and over a quarter inch long. It must've been there from day one, since it's in such an unusual spot. I'll have to repair it (as best I can) with touch-up paint.

The second is a piece of plastic hanging off the passenger-side speaker. This plastic strip was about 2 inches square, and probably served as protection for the speaker prior to installation. In any case, it was clearly visible through the side window. All I had to do was roll down the window and carefully pull the plastic off. No big deal, BUT..

I thought Lexus vehicles were extensively inspected before leaving the factory. I was told each vehicle was put on a platform and given a true "white glove" inspection, and any defects were promptly corrected before the vehicle could leave the factory.. In addition, vehicles are inspected at the dealership prior to delivery. A careful inspection would have revealed the two things I found, and they could have been corrected well before I took delivery.

This is what I would expect if I bought a Chevy, not a Lexus. What happened to "the relentless pursuit of perfection"?

I still feel that the Hood has something wrong with it.. I have chips all over the hood.. and hood only... Other then that... All I can say is... WOW... my car is now over a year old... almost 18k miles... and this week I'm heading in to have the door hinges replaced.. the new brake pads put on (the break dust is just annoying).. and just maybe a few minor issues... Its made me a Lexus buyer for life...
