  1. I had my whole windshield replaced and was advised that windshield replacement did not count against your insurance record........
  2. On tire pressure...... On the trip, the tires "were found" to be at 37/38 lbs. The car rode and handled great (trunk was full). Asked Park Place and was told they normally run the tires at 37 not 33. fyi
  3. donbl, It seems to be interesting information. I just went back from dealer for 20,000 miles service. I feel not in control of my car. But the dealer tells me it is normal. I did a 4 wheel alignment 2 weeks ago. Do 4 wheel alignment different than the suspension alignment? Did you found it or the dealer? Thanks for your help! The dealer claimed it was pulling to the left which caused him to unilaterally do an alignment. I did not notice it at all on the trip................ I am not sure of 4WD alignments however on 2WD alignments there are two forward and one aft on the alignment and all three were bad. And, not just a little bad......... glad it was caught or I would be buying tires about 5000 miles early.
  4. My suspension was found out of alignment at 5000 miles: camber, toe and rear. Did not hit anything as I drove most of the miles on a trip. Interestingly, the dealer did a "free" unsolicited alignment and found the problem. If it had not been done I am sure we would have been encountering a rough ride shortly........
  5. Had a good long crack in the windshield on 2006 GS300 with only 5000 miles on it. Replaced today in my garage by a professional. Interesting point: There are a tremendous number of clips and cowlings that must come off and be reset to replace the windshield. The strip that goes from the windshield over the roof and to the trunk on both sides had to be removed as well as the plastic cowling under the wipers. Many owners have complained about popping and and cracking noises in the vicinity of the windshield. This could very well be due to the glue not setting up correctly on new cars. The installer said that is exactly what happens for three days or so until the glue sets. Winter is the worse time for the problem.
  6. After 2800 mile trip listening to ML, then home to listen to the 2000 Jag, the Jag wins. Not sure why. More speakers in the Jag and more power but it is not surround. After reading the above comments about "don't use Surround unless with DVD" I am going to change the settings and go from there. However, the ML should pick off the two surround channels and give them to us in back. Bottom for me is I think there are not enough choices on the ML to really make the surround viable. I fiddled with the home surround system quite a bit before I was happy with it but the home system had more options. Just did the tests...... Turned surround off on XM radio and it was much better. Then,,,,,ML automatically sensed surround sound DVD-Audio when played and switched audio back to surround. Also, seems to recognize CD's with dolby surround encoded and switched to surround automatically. Once I had it set correctly it switched back and forth on its own correctly. Apparently, either XM does not send the encoded surround channels on the CD or ML does not decode radio. DVD-Audio sounded super!!!
  7. Spent some time on TireRack today searching for comments on all the tires that can be used on GS300. Reviews by users were all over the place. I believe the issue with rough ride is usually worn tires. And that the rough ride just starts about 10K miles. I am not sure there is a good riding tire that lasts much longer than 15K miles.
  8. I just finished a 2800 mile trip with the car turning over at 5000 miles when finished. The ride was smooth, soft and enjoyable. I did have to pay attention as the steering is a little more responsive than I am used to. I anticipate the soft tires will cause a rough ride starting at about 10000 miles. Will try something a little different at 10000 miles providing a good ride but more than 10000 miles next time. As for cornering, that should "not" be the tires but it could be the electronics......... I have Yoko's regular tires and happy with the car and tires at 5000 miles.
  9. After reviewing numerous forums in numerous locations, recommend we start just one topic for all of us since the bluetooth issues seem to be similar for current model Lexus.
