  1. Toys - Thanks for the FSMs! It took me awhile to get them unzipped, but WOW! is this valuable info. for owners. Thanks!!! -SG
  2. I'm curious to learn how this worked out for xsahowx . . . Did you send your '95 ES 300 gauge cluster to Brian at lextech.com? Was it easy to remove and reinstall? How much did it cost? Mine are also burning out (so far, only the tach has gone completely dark) and I want to know as much as I can in preparation for getting the guages re-done. Anyone else deal with replacing their guages, and if so, how? Thanks! -SG
  3. I'd also like to know if anyone can give good instructions for adjusting the headlights on my '95 ES 300. (Yes, I did a keyword "search" and didn't come across this.) It looks very accessible, and I noticed the little bubble level window, the screws, etc., but I don't want to "assume" and screw up the mechanism. Is there a manual I can get that would cover some of these basic maintenance and adjustment things? The owner's manual doesn't cover that stuff. Since I'm upgrading to Silver Star low beams, do I need to point them lower? Any other advice on installing Silver Stars (other than not touching the bulb with bare fingers)? -SG
  4. Thanks! I know others have covered this topic, but you helped me find a great deal on a new mast at eBay ($19.95) http://motors.search.ebay.com/ES-300-ANTEN...ST_W0QQfromZR40. With the detailed instructions I should be able to do this on a warm afternoon in the near future. No more grinding! -SG
  5. O.K. Can someone tell me in nice, clear details what I have to do to get this #@$&!! power anntena to stop grinding every time I turn on the radio? It's a '95 ES300. Does it for the first 15 seconds or so. Mast goes up & down just fine, but the noise is awful. I seem to recall some mention of a $30 fix. And, no, I don't want to cut the wires and leave it up. Anyone? -SG
  6. So. . . It sounds like a coin toss! Some swear by synthetics-only; others say it makes little difference. Synthetics certainly cost more, but I'd be willing to spend it if I knew it would make a difference. A local Toyota mechanic I spoke with seemed a bit ambivalent about this too, but emphasized that you shouldn't go back to regular oil once you've used synthetic. Can any of you Gurus give a thumbs up or down? My '95 ES300 has 109,000 miles and I'm using regular oil. Should I switch? -SG By the way -- What maintenance should I have done at this mileage? I understand there's a 110,000 mile complete fluids changing in the specs, but the local dealer wants $500 for that. The water pump and timing chain have already been replaced. Anything else besides oil changes? -SG
  7. Thanks to all! Appreciate the helpful advice. It appears the drains are doing their job-- I just noticed the water in the drive-throughs because I've been watching for leaks, and the pressure is obviously greater there. -SG
  8. Leaky moonroof when taken through drive-through car washes. Can the closing tension be adjusted? Is that something I can do by myself,or do I have to have the "pros" handle it? Seal itself seems OK-- just not closing tight enough. -SG
  9. I've noticed the moonroof leaks a bit in drive-through washes. Is there any way to adjust the tightness of the seal? Do I need new seals? Should I take itto a dealer, or can I do this myself? -SG please note: this post was merged into this thread from an unrelated thread where is was first posted.
  10. Welcome to the club Search these forums and you will find more info than you will ever need to know. ;) Where in MN. are you? I'm in !Removed! Rapids. ← St. Cloud. Just bought the ES300 from a guy in Prior Lake. -SG
  11. I just bought a '95 ES300 with 107,000 miles, for $5,000. I'm the third owner, and never owned a Lexus before. Metalic cranberry w/ tan leather interior. CD changer, power moon roof, seat heaters (nice now that its #@*%'n cold in MN). Valve cover gaskets are leaky, and the antennae mast gears grind on start-up (I understand there's a cheap fix for this -- tell me about it, please). Otherwise, it seems solid -- great ride! :D Would welcome advice about some basic mods. Anything I need to address for the cold weather?
  12. Yep. I'm a virgin: Never owned a Lexus -- until now! I've heard of the legendary 3.0 V6 (bullet-proof), and the car checked-out great, but I'm hungry for objective comments about the '95 ES300 from any of you who own one. I live in Minnesota's heartland (which hit the deep freeze this week). Suggestions, advice, etc. -- all welcome! -SG
