  1. This is a very minor issue, but on my 05 ES330 the glove box tensioner piston keeps coming off the plastic clip on the frame behind the glove box. I had the dealer fix it once already but when it happened again I took it apart and could not believe that only a plastic clip was used to hold the piston to the frame. Apparently the clip is defective or worn and I was wondering if there was any way to just use a nut and a bolt. I haven't had time to take it apart again and see, so I thought I'd ask here for any suggestions. Thanks!!
  2. I don't think the wood trim is as nice on the 07 as it is on the 05 or 06. And I'm not saying that because I have an 05!! :P
  3. That is the ONE thing I wish my 05 had. Realistically, it's not that big of a deal, but I had it on my previous car ('95 Avalon) and miss it on this one. Can it be added on without tearing half the car apart? Or even at all? I've never even thought about asking the dealer about this.
  4. The car sounds nice!! Seems a bit pricey at $44K though. I hope they gave you a good deal and a generous amount for your trade-in. What is the UL package? I'm not familiar with that one. I like the 2007's, especially the extra horsepower and the other goodies the new ones have. Side note: I was wondering...since the 2007's came out so early it seems the 2006 models were only out a few months. It looks like there won't be many 2006 models around.
  5. Got my 2005 last October for $31,500 with 5K miles on it. Also got an extended (7yr/70k) warranty. Considering I only drive about 8k miles per year the 7 years will run out before the mileage limit does.
  6. Hmmmm.... A half-second to a second and a half hardly seems like a long time to me, especially if the car is cold. I never really timed it, but my '05 ES with 9K miles starts within 2 seconds when cold and it never occured to me that anything could be wrong. It starts every morning and runs well. No complaints from me!!
  7. One thing I have not seen mentioned is the resale value. In 5-6 years the resale on the ES will be a lot more than a Camry which should more than make up the difference in the initial cost. You are driving a nicer car, with more amenities, and everything else that makes the ES a better car than a Camry, which is a nice car in its own right.
  8. Congrats on your purchase. I bought an 05 ES in October with 5200 miles on it. I took it in to have the personalized settings done and asked about the trans issue. They said my car fell within the VIN number range for the "shift feel enhancement" upgrade and that it would take about 500 miles or so for the car to "learn" my driving habits. I have not experienced and trans hesitation at all and the cars shifts as smooth as silk. So far, I've been very happy with it and it seems either Lexus or the dealer calls me every other week to see how it's doing. It's nice their concerned -- but it's kind of weird. I'm also getting card and letters. I guess I'm not used to that level of service, which so far, has been excellent. My biggest concern was that the gas mileage isn't quite what it was supposed to be but I'm told that should improve once the trans adapts to my driving. I'm really loving the heated seats with the onset of the cold Chicago winter and I have to say, this car heats up faster than any other car I've ever had.
  9. Hello: New to the board and my 1st post which is (obviously) about my first Lexus!! :D I bought a 2005 ES330 demo with 5200 miles on it. Silver metallic with black interior. A real beauty. I'm coming from a 1995 Avalon which served me very well for 8 years and I can only hope the ES is as reliable. I've wanted an ES for quite some time and finally found the exact one I was looking for. The price was right, got 4.8% financing, and with 50% down the payments are relatively cheap as payments go. It has all the goodies including the 17" Michelin tires, premium sound system and traction control and so far I'm loving it. Even got free car washes for life. I've read here about the hesitation problems but I don't seem to be having anything like that -- yet -- and hopefully will not. I did get a 7yr/70K warranty because I am mechanically inept and would not have a clue what to do if there was a problem. I have a dealer a mile away and that's good. They have Lexus loaners if you need one and were very good to deal with. I was very impressed. I do have a question about the gas and gas mileage. I was told the car will run ok on regular but the middle grade would give better mileage. Does anyone have any experience/comments on this? I've only put 1 tank of gas in it do far so it's hard for me to tell. Also, the car dislpays the average mileage you are getting. Is this very accurate? I do lot of low speed driving and it says I'm only getting around 16 mpg, yet it hardly uses any gas. There seems to be a discrepancy here. I'm going to fill it up again this weekend and will check actual mileage against how much gas it is using so I will be able to tell then. Anyway, sorry to be long-winded. I'm excited to have this car and it's a dream to drive. I hope to be hanging around here a bit, too, and hopefully can throw in my .02 once in a while. Regards, Jim
