  1. Also the easiest way it to make sure you keep them clean.

Never use a wheel cleaner spray which is just an acid and will destroy them.

what if you keep good coat of wax on wheels then use the acid wheel cleaner ? I have used the cleaner many times on brake dust and you spray it on and hoose it off and all you have to do is dry it off. Shines like new water repels off cuz they are waxed and save a ton of work. what do you think?

  2. good luck with cancelling the paypal payment they only refund if you do not receive the goods not the condition of any item

belive me i got stuck with mastercard ebay and paypal ,all saying their is nothgin they could do because i received the goods and they only get involved if i was defrauded by it not being sent which could only be handled by paypal as they did the billing

Yep. Paypal's buyer protection is pretty much worthless. The buyer can say anything they want in an ad and even if the product shipped is nothing like the ad says, Paypal won't refund the money. As long as the seller ships something that's even remotely like what they advertised, it's OK with Paypal.

I still use eBay a lot, but with 2 rules:

    1. I check feedback. Unless the feedback is >50 or 100 and AT LEAST 97% (preferably higher), I go elsewhere. There are few items so rare that you can't find a seller with 99% feedback.

    2. I am currently over 1500 transactions on eBay and have had probably 5 that I got ripped off. Considering that I typically save about 30% average by buying on eBay, the 0.3% rip off rate is something I can live with.

I guess the best thing to cover your own a@@ is if your item does not work or in sk position the key was bent so you pretty much know you are being scammed just say you never got it. two can play the scam job right? then paypal will refund your money back?

  3. Maybe the Pace in Wisconsin is a little slower than the rest of the country, or it could be that you don't get out much, or drive in the mountains. I'm sure you have moisture though. Seems like every ones in a hurry here in California, and yes some people hot rod (as much as you can an RX) in a Lexus. Ever read any of the posts about getting more power out of an RX? You don't need a COBRA to have brake fade however I can see that happining in a COBRA.

Sorry to get off topic luxury1.

    Jeff

U are right, the pace is a lot slower here in Wisconsin & no mountains either.

No i have never read about someone wanting to get more Power out of their RX but I'm sure they do, but on a road course??

I will tell u our Lexus sure went though the 3+ inches of snow we had yesterday.

YA HEY DER,, slow aint a bad thing lol

  4. Anyone know how to disconnect or turn off the annoying seat belt warning bell - which goes ballistic if you don't connect your seat belt within your first 5 feet of driving?    Yes, I drive with my seat belt each time I drive - but not when I'm driving down my driveway at 2 MPH to take the trash, or getting the mail.  Heck, sometimes I like to put it on after I put it in drive.

IIRC, the 2005's and ealier RX's i've driven did not have this annoying bell.

The "big brother" aspect of Lexus is the only thing I hate about the company (like the annoying "I agree" button for each time to look at my NAV).    :chairshot:

i beleive you can just pull that fuse out !!

  5. Beautiful colour!

Ash interior is very nice as well

I should have got the chrome rims!!!  Dealer never tells you anything!

Always best to work a deal on rims before the deal is complete if you prefer the chrome. Worst thing that can usually happen is they sell them to you for cost. I always have them through in another set of floor mats to keep one nice for summer.

  6. :chairshot: Thanks to my neighbor, who keeps opening her door into mine, I need some paint chips and scratched chrome fixed.

    Errr how  :censored:

Any good, reputable places anyone can recommend a girl?  The color is pearl white and I've been told this color is difficult to come by. So I've been told?? Help.

I would go wherever you want and your neighbor should be paying the bill.

  7. In my eyes, any oil-glazed filters are, well, you might be  playing with fire since sensors do not like oils etc.  Then again people love to over oil them.

I think that's the main problem - people over oil them. You're supposed to wait like 10-15 minutes for the oil to soak in.

The appeal to me is that I can re-use the filter. I have K&N pod filters on my motorcycle so I already have the "recharge" kit.

I can find a K&N for my '99 LS for about $50 online... where an OEM one is like $25 right?

    I can get a denso oem for $16.27 and k&n for $45.00 free shipping/.

  8. Remember in just 13k miles the timing belt and water pump are recommended to be changed as part of the costly 90k service. So be sure to factor this in to your cost. Is it for sale by a Lexus Dealer? If I am going to buy a Lexus from a Dealer, I would prefer it be from a Dealer who knows the car very well. Have the Dealer run the entire service history. I mostly agree a one owner is better, but I've also seen one owners get very lazy when they know they are getting up there in miles and don't feel like shelling out those Dealer prices or know they'll be dumping it eventually. I'd say if you can have it fully inspected first plus negotiate for the upcoming 90k service then it might be worth considering.

just remember you are in the drivers seat. they want to sell the car you would be suprised what you can get them to through in. check the service records wheel and deal your 90,000 service in ,and have it checked out by a good mechanic.

  9. Like Toyrme said, the average life is about 100-150K, but if you are mainly a highway driver they could last longer.  The reasons to change them are to maintain optimum fuel economy.  Everything you do to maintain optimum fuel economy will also prolong the life of the expensive emission system componets.  So new sensors easily pay for themselves in the long run (for owners who plan to keep their cars along time)

awsome info here gang it helped me out alot, and i didnt even have to ask.

  10. Thats a fact army multiply times four its a big diff. Plus the fact you are getting a very compairable tire also. My 215 50 17's were 75.00 a tire free shipping I thought that rocked. I think the toyo was $125.00, and mx4 was $145.00 so I am happy at this point now I will see how they ride. thanks guys

Which Toyo's? And yes, Michelin's are notorious for being one of the most expensive brands you can buy. ;)

proxes tpt's lexus $125.00 on performanceplus.com since tirerack dont carry toyo or they would have best internet price .

  11. :chairshot:

I don't really care to know; I just know it's thinner than the 5w-30 I've been using this year & nobody else is gonna try it.

m1s is great stuff 5w-30 survived two blown headgaskets (lots of coolant mixing) & the over-spooling turbo (I'm sure that was hot), running some miles on 3 quarts of oil after I had a sever RMS, or RVC blow-out. (I forget). Running another few hundred miles with atleast 7 quarts in it (I really think it was closer to 8 quarts). Hell that's just 2005! bawahahahahahaha

Might as well add a weird mix of 5w-20 to the list of 2005 accomplishments.

Every bearing surface in the engine looks awsome. Damned warped heads... I hate dealers.

After that who knows. I've been wanting to prove that Astroglide is the greatest lubricant of all time.

:chairshot: :chairshot: :chairshot: :chairshot: :chairshot: :chairshot:

I'M GETTING SOOOOOO CONFUSED !!!!!!!!! LOL

  12. If you really want the best of all worlds, buy the Khumo ASX's. They are reasonably priced, super smooth, quiet and handle very well. The bonus? They have a wear rating of 340 and aren't directional. I have them on my GS430 and they are light years ahead of the Potenzas.

I think a Ford Model T's tires would be light years ahead of the Potenza's! lol :lol::ph34r:

amen. i hate potenzas with a passion.

If you have purchased the falkens, you made an great choice.

$88 a tire isnt that bad, if you look at other tires the same size going for $150 or more.

i just put a set of falkens on my GF's car yesterday, in 205-55-R16, the cheapest tire i could find was $115. then i found a place local who sold falkens, and they were $76 a piece. thats a good bit of difference when multiplied by 4.

And i would stay LIGHT YEARS away from the kuhmo's. personal reasons.

Thats a fact army multiply times four its a big diff. Plus the fact you are getting a very compairable tire also. My 215 50 17's were 75.00 a tire free shipping I thought that rocked. 13. How bout oil filters?? stick with toyota or go to k&n or another?

    zin,

Debates on air, oil & oil filters are never ending on this site lol  Like I am talking huge threads!

It just comes down to what you like using personally & what your comfortable with. There really is no wrong answer per se........all the products are of very good quality & 'brand name'. Me, if you did a search, you will notice that I use to use Mobil 1 with a M1 filter.......I have since switched to Amsoil ASL 5W 30, along with the Amsoil filter (longer drain intervals for both over M1 & have done the same in my wife's 'new' 2003 Forester). I also use a K & N air filter.......this is my 3rd in as many cars & I have never experenced any problems with it......like someone mentioned, the good thing about K & N is it should be your last filter you buy.......just follow the instruction to the letter when it comes to cleaning & re-oiling.....don't saturate the thing with oil or chances are you will have problems. ;) I have either made your decision more complicated or more simple......I hope it was the ladder. Good luck with your choices! B)

guys I did searches and just got too confused thats is why I asked my question the way that I did. You all helped my desicion has been made oem air and oil filter I am a happy man , thankyou!. I just said about buying my car with 90,000 miles I dont know what parts to use to replace the ones on the vehicle? I could just go with the manual but sometimes a better product is out there and I just want to hear peoples opinions thats all. I can make a desicion I just may get very thorough because I am handicap and have nothing but time. but I thankyou for all your input.

  14. Air filter and oil (and filters have been discussed on this forum before). Do a search

K&N is only slighty better at high RPM's. Do you need it, no. Most over oil K&N and then mess up sensors. To me it is not worth it. I think I posted this on one of your other threads.

Oil filters depends greatly on efficiency and capacity. You can have a great efficiency but capacity is through the floor.

Mobil 1 oil can last much longer then anything in the manual. Good oil.

Research all you want and then tell us about your opinions of the products that you decided on instead of asking for opinions, Maybe that would be a better aproach with your inability to make a decision on your own. You ask+we tell=you decide then tell us your opinion. I'm done with this.

I dont understand what you are saying dc but I got the info I was looking for. I am very happy for all the help maybe you miss understood something I said but I thank all who have helped me. As I said I dont know much about the better products to use on my car so its great to get the help .

  15. Well, the dealer says the car has had only one owner while the CarFax report says 2. It also shows that the car was registered as a Fleet vehicle at one point, so not sure if that's a + or a -. As far as the service history, not sure how much is available from the Dealer and there's almost nothing on the CarFax report. I guess this is just one of those where you have to get an independent inspection done and roll the dice.

    Any other thoughts?

I think the price you are looking at is the same price you will pay for a 1 owner well cared for car so if its not fitting that bill personaly I would keep looking. Most people either have there service records or at least used there lexus dealers for some service so I prefer a paper trail myself with any older or high mileage cars, just my opinion.
  16. There is no debate.

No descently sized air filter is going to do anything for any engine performance wise.

Nor will "small particles" hurt the engine in any way. (Gravel? Yes. Driving down a dirt road? Not good. Anything else? Doesn't really matter)

It's simply what you want to pay for one. $50 for a K&N filter you have to re-oil at least once a year (Mine went bone dry in less than a year  ). Or $5-15 for a normal air filter.

I will say I'll never own, nor support anything K&N makes. They prey on the people that simply don't know any better & are highly overrated.

Denso oil filters are great. High filtration rate.

    bobistheoilguy.com

Would be better equipped to tell you about oil filters.

Now tell me what you really think? lol this is what I need hard core facts not do whatever you feel is best stuff. thanks toysrme.

  17. I have added questions to other posts but I am not getting any answers so please explain to me what air filter should I run in my 96 es 300 with 90,000 miles that I just purchased a few months ago? What I dont understand is the k&n filter is $45.00 and up and the oem denso or toyota filter is like $17.00 and up depending on where you buy. So what are the differences and how often do I need to change it?I know nothing about the quality or benefits of any air ac trany ,any filter over the other so please help me to run my car the best way i can. thanks

Do yourself a favor and buy a OEM original toyota filter and call it a day. I have a K&N in my GS and factory toyota in my ES and am happy with both. The differences and gains have been discussed to no end , So it is to each his/her own choice. ;)

See guys now thats the info I needed to hear simple as that ....THANKYOU !!!

One more thing I am running mobil 1 and plan to change it every 5-6 months should I change air filter to?

Change the air filter when you can't see light through it. Change the oil in recomended mile intervals with a new oil filter everytime.

How bout oil filters?? stick with toyota or go to k&n or another?

  21. you still need to wash the filter and oil it. It is up to you. I would not use it, but that is me. Electrical parts are too much $$$ to afford to blow them for a $50 filter.

Now my GSXR is a diff story..no sensors.  :D

So what are you saying ? Use oem $17.00 filters and dont use k&n 45.00 filters?I am just trying to learn what replacement parts are best to use on my car! I dont have an opiniuon or a care either way just what is best and how often it needs to be replaced or re-oiled whatever.
