  1. I have the NAV screen, not the multidisplay. 100% sure and confirm by the dealer using the VIN number. But in 2001 my region was not available in any maps, thats why the dealer dis not offer the nav system. Now the region is available, but I am more interested in the additional features of the system and installing video into the nav screen. Any help will be appreciatted.
  2. I own a RX300 2001 with the sat nav screen and buttons but no computer. Now I bought one and I need help to install it. I do not know if the car is plug and play ready, meaning the wires. If not, where to buy just the navigation wires? Any ideas? Thanks!
  3. I own a 2001 RX300 with the sat nav screen. I bought a sat nav computer and GPS antenna (both used) Anybody knows how to installed it? How to know if the car has the harness already installed? Any way to buy just the ncomputer connectors? And to finish, anybody could tell me a web page where the toyota staff provides technical solutions? Thanks, By the way, my dealer is more lost then I, as in my Island the nav computers where never installed.
  4. No idea how to get that information, maybe the Lexus dealer. Here in my region only the latest models are coming with the nav computer (We are in an island), so delaer has no idea about the system...
  5. Maybe is a problem with the DVD regions. I have heard that Lexus DVD computers also works with regions, like movies DVD...1 for USA, 2 for EU...
  6. I am going to connect an external dvd to the sat nav screen of my RX300. On the back of the screen I have four connectors, one of those is for the rgb input (five wires). I have the video to rgb conversor, the vais input device for the ipod and an extra audio input... The project is almost finished! But I still need the pinout meaning for each of these connectors, I don´t want to burn the screen with a miss connection... If anybody knows the pinout meaning of this connector, I will appreciatte too much, Thanks!
  7. It is easy to do this. You only need to ground the wire coming from the hand brake and the one from the speed sensor. There are a lot of topics here explaining how to do it.
  8. I am still working in the project. I hope to have something shortly and I will post it. By the moment, I have a Video to RGB conversor, and waiting for the Ipod integration from VAIS to do everything at the same time. The idea, use the video Ipod for music and on screen videos. Rear view camera is on the side by the moment, but I believe that once the video input is done, should be easy to ad the rear view camera. The only step in which I am a little bit lost is in the wiring meaning of each of the RGB wires on the back of the screen.
  9. One of my rear speakers has died. I have a 2001 RX300. Any advice to replace the speaker? Any aftermarket option or going for the OEM? Anybody knows the serial number of the OEM to get one? Thanks!
  10. I need the wiring for a 2001 navigation screen. Focus on the four connectors on the back. There is one for video input that I want to use. fernandoloriente@laregenta.com Thanks!
  11. I am not agree with all the above answers. It is not difficult to ad the nav system if you have the proper radio and screen equipment. If your radio has the nav buttons, then you have the nav hardware in the front. In this case, half of the work is already done. In case that you have the multi.info display, then forget to ad the nav system, You will need to change everyhing, radio, cd changer, screen, and ad all the CPU wires, antenna... Lets go back to the previous scenario. You have the proper radio and screen. Then you have to go to the trunk, and besides the floor, check if you have the van computer connectros. It is esasy to see beacuse are two connectors of 20 and 10 pins. If you have them, the only thing that you need to buy is a nav computer and a dvd map. You can buy it in Ebay, but it will cost you around 1k. Too much when you can have a portable GPS for 400.
  12. I am sure it is the nylon inside the antenna what it is broken. To change the antenna you need to follow a procedure. I will try to send you a copy of the repair manual explaing it.
  13. Hes talking about the rx330, not the rx300. Kinda cool that its limited, i had no idea. The fastest ive every gone on my car is 90mph. lol, the engine noise scares me seems like its trying too hard, haha. wouldnt want to hurt my baby Oops :whistles: I never noiced this in the 330 though, maybe i just never needed to get that high TTE is the only way, but really is expensive. I really tried, and no way to do it besides TTE.
  14. Ok, I have made some improvements in my project. On the back of the nav screen we have 4 connectors. One is rounded, with 5 wires. It is the one for the RGB video input. Now the big question. Anybody knows the meaning of these wires? Even in my Lexus dealer is not possible to have the answer. Once I have the answer, I will be able to make the DVD input, and if works, I will post the result. Thanks for the help
  15. Did the previous owner start a nav install then did not complete it? Because what you have [ I think you have a control screen not a nav screen ], Everyone thinks that they are nav screens but they are not. If you are looking to install nav in your RX I have a full system for you. ;) ← This is the screen that I have. It has the nav buttons and everything...When I push the nav button, I have the message "The external system is not connected". On the trunk, right side, below the floor panel, I have four connectors. I used to have the hands free telephone original system (For Motorola) that I removed (volume and other cntrols on the steeering wheel). The hands free hardware used to be connected there. Check the pictures and tell me what do you think I have. Thanks a lot. ← Can you enlarge the pix a bit, I can't make anything out. Sorry Or if you can email me larger pix that would work. Sorry for the delay in answer. I made all kind of questions to my dealer and I can tell you that what I have is all the NAN installation without the nav computer. When I bought the car no maps were available, so Why including the feature? Do you still have the cpu, antenna and wires? If yes, at what price? By the way, do you know the menaing of each of the 5 wires that has the RGB connector on the back of the scree? It is the rounded one. Thanks!
  16. The screen in your vehicle is just an information display.... it will not work for video input. ← But it is the same as the RX's equipped with the nav system, and in those I believe that it is possible to connect an external dvd. ← SORRY THE SCREEN I S NOT THE SAME AS ON NAV SYSTEMS. YOUR SCREEN HAS 1 CONNECTOR THE NAV SCREEN HAS 4. 1 OF THE 4 CONNECTORS IS AN NTSC DIRECT VIDEO INPUT. THERE IS NO CONNCTOR ON YOUR SCREEN TO INPOUT A VIDEO SIGNAL. IT IS ONLY AN INFORMATION MULTI DISPLAY. ALSO YOUR SCREEN ISNT EVEN THE SAME SIZE AND THE NAV SCREEN UNIT WONT EVEN FIT IN YOUR DASH FACEPLATE. YOUR NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO MAKES THAT MISTAKE. THE SALVAGE YARDS ALL ADVERTISE THE INFO SCREEN AS A NAV SCREEN. ONLY 3% OF THE ENTIRE RUN OF RX300 HAS AN ACTUAL NAVIGATION SCREEN. ← Thanks for your reply. Probably you are right, but I am attaching pictures of my screen just to show you that I do not see any difference between yours and mine. Have in mind that I have the European RX300 AWD. How can I take out the screen to check if there is any connections for the NTSC input? ← yes that is the touch screen and there are navigation buttons under the screen. it would be easy to add factory navigation or a factory dvd movie player since your all set up with a real nav screen not a multi display info screen like most rx300. yo0u dont have to remove your screen to prove it you couldnt be saying lexus on the screen on power up if it wasnt a nav screen. i wonder if your navigatioin computer has just been removed and all you have to do is plug in a usa computer with a dvd map. i have an rx300 navigation computer with the latest 269.00 dvd map update in it for 750.00 or the lexus dvd movie player for 750.00 also. the map dvd player installs back behind right side panel in cargo area under the jack. the lexus dvd movie player installs in the center console or in the rear cargo area if you dont want to lose console space. ← These are the conectors that I have on the trunk. Let me ask you about the nav computer. If I change the DVD for an european one, it will be work? Are compatible? Is possible to install both, computer and dvd player, or also one system at a time? If you want you can reply me to fernandoloriente@laregenta.com ←

  20. I have a 2002 European model (Japan made) Lexus RX300 AWD with the nav screen, without the computer. I am living in CI and the importer never sold the car with the computer installed. Now I want to get one a good price to install it and then improve the system with the TV tuner and DVD. Also I will need the antenna, probably wires... Any help will be appreciatte!

  23. Trying to upgrade the sound system at low volume, I need to find out where the amp is located as well as the subwoofer. Before the RX I had a IS and sound as better thanks to the rear speakers. Besides the way of installing huge suboofers at the trunk, that I dislike, any Ideas to obtain good and nice results? hat about replacing the doors speakers? Ho to do it? I have at home an ONKYO combined with BOSE speakers and JBL subwoofer and I am trying to obtain similar clear and crystal sound at the car. All answers and ideas wellcome.
  24. I own a 2002 rx300 with the touch screen but no nav system installed. I want to connect an external dvd or tv tuner to the screen and stereo. Any ideas?
