  1. I have a 2006 RX400h and the front power port (lighter) that is above the gear shift has broken. Specifically it's the black retaining ring that cracked so you can pull the actual plug straight out. It looks like the ring can be replaced without having to get the entire socket but I don't know. Anyone have any clue as to how I can get the part number or buy it somewhere? Thanks in advance!!
  2. OK, add me to the list of dummies who hit the 'load' button on the service menu. I took it to my local Toyota dealer and they said it was over their head and to go to my Lexus dealer. As a result I decided to try to reset my ECU first before heading down the more expensive dealer path. I was successful in reseting the ECU (Yes!) but now my Nav screen shows me in Washington DC and I'm in Chicago! Anyone have any idea how to correct this? The disc loaded properly and it's the original factor version. Thanks!!
  3. I just got the same phone from Verizon and it paired perfectly just like my 650 did the past few years. Follow the same instructions. Mine has firmware 1.06. I love this phone!!
  4. The bug was that whenever a second call came in using BT on the Lexus it would disconnect both calls making the whole thing useless. V 1.05 has fixed this and I now use the Lexus BT over my headset with no problems. My only other 'wish list' item now would be to able to use the telephone menu items while driving. Even using the 'bypass' trick it doesn't allow you to input or search any phone book entries or dial a number from the dash. It's no big deal really as I can use the phone to do that but it would be nice.
  5. The latest firmware upgrade from Verizon (1.05) has fixed the bugs that kept it from working fully on Bluetooth in my RX400h. Call waiting disconnect was the main fix.
  6. You can unplug mine from the cables but I don't think the remaining cables have a 'pass through' feature. I got it in August.
  7. I haven't had a chance to try the new program with the higher speed yet but the old one had severe delays in changing playlists. In fact, half the time it would default back to the program version display and you had to rotate through the modes to get it working again. I was not able to disconnect the unit from the cables and still have my head unit work. If they changed that in this version, fine, but mine would not. By cabling down to behind the lower right panel (next to the passsenger's left leg) you can certainly disconnect it easier. My 40gb iPod is a 3G which worked fine before and is listed as compatible in their manual. Now it would only work if it was factory programmed in the slow speed mode. Your mini is a 4G I believe so it would work with high speed. I plan on buying a new iPod to replace mine, I just think people should be aware what the unit can and cannot do.
  8. If you are looking to buy a VAIS unit, make sure you can truly live with the design quirks mentioned here on the board before buying one. I have had mine since August. I bought it eyes open after reading the reviews here from those who already had installed one. I agree, the sound quality is excellent. The rest of the software was very inconsistent and you really had to work hard to get playlists to play correctly. I noticed a month or so ago that someone had upgraded their software and it worked much better. I contacted VAIS and they said the version I had (3.42) was "very old" and to return it to be reprogrammed. So, off I went to the garage in the cold Chicago winter to de-install the unit. By the way, you have to remove even the head unit cables when you take the VAIS unit out so the entire audio unit has to come out each time. I sent it in and recieved it back about 10 days later with software version 3.52 on it. I installed it but it suddenly would not work with my iPod! I tried it with my sons iPod and it worked. I wrote to VAIS and it seems that now they can program it in two communications speeds, slow and fast. They sent it back to me in the fast mode which doesn't work with my 3G iPod. Now my only remedy is to take my 400h apart (again) and wait another week or so for them to reprogram it or buy a new iPod. Why on earth they didn't call or write to ask before assuming is beyond me. Because I have to use it in the AUX mode for now while I contemplate the next move I can't tell you if the software is any better.
  9. I know you don't want to hear this but I was always able to pair my 650 (Verizon) with my 400h. Yes, I had to learn the trick about initiating a call to complete the pairing but after that it would find my phone, allow me to send and receive calls etc. And, contrary to what you might have heard I was able to upload my phone book to the Lexus although I rarely used it as a lookup device to make calls. The thing that caused me to turn off the Lexus bluetooth with my 650 was the call waiting issue which is a deal breaker for me. I now have version 1.04 on my phone but am afraid to try it again because I'm pretty satisfied with my Motorola H500 bluetooth headset now.
  10. I stopped using my Treo 650 with the Lexus Bluetooth because of the call waiting bug. Anyone know if there is a recent update on a fix or workaround? My firmware in the Treo was 1.03 but I just got a replacement that has 1.04 on it and I'm curious if it contains a fix for this or not.
  11. What did you have to do to upgrade your firmware? I'm not too thrilled about pulling my unit out of the dash but if it corrects some of the quirkiness I'd do it.
  12. I agree, I thought I had a problem so I took it in. They said all was working correctly. Anyway to turn ICE off? I'm down 10-15%
  13. Thanks! I knew it was a long shot but something's changed since the dealer had it. 3 tanks of gas and I'm down 2-3 mpg (I used to get 28, now I get 25-26).
  14. Interesting. Since I got my 400 back from the lock repair (which took a week due to parts) my mileage has been 2-3 mpg less. This is after 3 tankfuls now. I assumed as the weather cooled (fall here in Chicago) that my mileage would be at least what it was when I wasn't running the AC. It has gone from 28 to 25. I didn't have the squealing brakes problem, is there any chance they would have done a pre-emptive factory recall fix to my rotors? I really can't explain the mileage drop.
  15. I had a loaner 330 for a week while they replaced the ignition key cylinder. There is no comparison (IMHO) between them. The 400 is a much better vehicle.
