  1. She hit a concrete media and that's all she wrote. The audio system has been sold, thanks guys. The last things I have to part with are: Equus Import vehicle code reader This thing enables you to pull codes by putting your computer into diagnostic mode and delivering a sequence of flashes to correspond to a code list available on this site. It was invaluable for me. ($20) 1995 sc300 owner's manual (B.O) 12 disc magazine/not for the nakamichi (B.O.) willing to ship if you're willing to accept the cost. I accept paypal. PM me or send an email to rizinglion@yahoo.com Thanks
  2. Well, guys, Dec. 2 '05 ended my lexus ownership when a delightful old lady and her brand new mitsubishi outlander decided to reenact a monster car show and landed on top of my parked sc300. It took her insurance a month and a half to tell me what I already knew, my baby's toast. To beat, I had invested 5k into her in the last 12 mos. Talk about *BLEEP*ed off. *Sigh* Anyways, my lost is your gain. I have a brand new pair of Boston Pros 5.5 components and a pair of Boston NX 67 6 1/2 coaxials for sale, never used. I had been saving them for my monster system but so much for that idea. These are all high end speakers, grab em up quick. I'm asking $450, shipping extra. I'm currently in the miami/ft.lauderdale area for any of you local guys. You can email me at rizinglion@yahoo.com. Be safe.
  3. I'm also experiencing the same symptoms. I'm thinking tranny oil change. It's about due, last one was two years ago.
  4. Finally, an answer for the lack of sc300/sc400 kits on the market. I gather that's why a custom kit runs near $150, at least at the three shops I've gotten quotes from. Hope the metra guys can work something out for us. There's definently a market for it.
  5. The saga ends: $350 later, turns out one of the vaccum hoses for the egr wasn't connected and the intake passage of the throttle body was clogged. The dealer had to take everything apart and physically clean it. Vs the other shop just sprayed cleaner in. Needless to say, I'm content now. She drives like a charm and with that out the way, it's time to tackle the supension. I'm still looking for a good shop in South Florida to do the suspension. Anyone in the area, a referral would be much appreciated. Let me know what you paid for in labor. Hopefully, when all this post Hurricane clean up is done, I'll be able to get it taken care of.
  6. What's up guys... I'm looking to purchase a set of kyb shocks and eibach springs. Has anyone in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area done this already and what shop do you recommend for install? The dealer won't touch aftermarket and most shops I've encountered looked a little to shade tree for my taste. let me know what the install ran you $$$ and your opinions on the ride of that new set up... all opinions appreciated...
  7. Tell me about it. I could remove it but then I would lose some gas mileage and perhaps performance. I'd rather keep the engine as designed, to be honest. I made an appointment with the dealer. There goes some more of my stereo money but hopefully it'll drive like new.
  8. The code 71 saga continues... Well, this week I had the original shop replace the modulator, egr temp sensor, and pcv valve (for the fly). After clearing the code, by nightfall it had returned. The car had been parked for awhile before I jumped on the expressway. Aargh... I'm going to try cleaning the throttle body AGAIN and see if that makes a difference before surrendering it over to the dealer. My new egr is only 7 months old so I have a hard time accepting that it's the culprit. current new parts: egr valve modulator temp sensor pcv valve throttle body cleaning was performed by shop several times I'm lost. Anyone out there have any suggestions?
  9. Last december, I got a code 71 (egr system failure)... I had the egr valve and vacuum modulator replaced and had the throttle body cleaned. Car ran good for awhile but recently the problem has resurfaced. This time around I had the egr tube removed and cleaned as well as a thorough cleaning of the throttle body again. Guess what, code 71 persists... The dealer advised that I replace the egr temp sensor as it may be faulty but isn't that just a warning sensor or does it actually send info to the ecu to make adjustments? I took it out and it was full of gunk. I cleaned it off and replaced it but no go, light still on after disconnecting the battery cables for an hr. My gas mileage is also suffering a bit. I'm leaning towards a mechanical part being bad in the system, at least I'd like to think so before spending $150 for a new sensor. Push come to shove, it's a DIY if it comes down to that. What's the 411 on this one?
  10. damn, you've got me on that one. Should've wrapped up the components. I took the car back, it's running much better now unfortunately couldn't stop the changing of the plugs and the labor since the work had already been initiated. That's the last time they'll see my car. The check engine light is still on so I'm gonna run it to the dealer tomorrow. Code 41, I believe that's the throttle position sensor. Would replace it myself if it's a DIY... still think I need a proper diagnostics done... What's your thoughts on that SK?
  11. Thanks for the input SK. got the call early this morning, sparkplugs and wires were still soaked after two days. Have to replace them and to make things worse, I had a tune up done only two weeks ago. Man, this is unbelievable. The irony of keeping the engine clean to spot future problems turned out to be a problem in itself. Going down to talk to them now. TO ALL WHO READ THIS. DO NOT PRESSURE WASH A LEXUS ENGINE, BY ALL MEANS...
  12. I wish I had read some of the previous posts about engine detailing before deciding to have my engine bay cleaned. I've done it a million times with my 300zx, never a problem. Did it the first year I bought it (95 sc300), why a problem now, go figure? Now my engine is vibrating like crazing and misfiring as well. Had to carry it to the mechanic and let it sit. Said he found like 20 codes, unbelievable on a car of this type. Lots of fuel smell, the injectors were wet. So we're letting it dry out for a day or two, then take a crack at it again. DAmn, I just had the full timing belt and tune up done, close to $2k. What's next? Anyone else experienced with these problems?
  13. Hey guys. I read someone's post where they wet sanded and refinished their wood trim pieces in black. I'm interested in doing the same except I want to keep the original look. Can't say that I was feeling the black finish. The burlwood finish is more classy, in mho. Has anyone had theirs done and if so, can you recommend a shop in the miami area?
  14. BFI, huh... interesting idea and no one has tried to mass produce it yet. The concept seems applicable enough. I might look into it, it's definently inexpensive, if anything. any drawbacks to it?
  15. can anyone vouch for the hp gains of either on their sc300/400? what are your suggestions and no, I'm not looking for a showcar but actual performance advantages? all feedback is welcomed...
  16. Radio is on the frizz and I'm considering installing an alpine or pioneer in dash navigation lcd system in the factory spot. I only found one or two pics in the club and they weren't of either system. Does anyone have pics they can post and what have been your experiences with them? Are they worth the $1500-2000 price tag or should I just go with a touch screen lcd audio setup?
  17. Damn, that sucks... I'm sure you can fix it but cheap, it won't be. If you decide to scrap it, I am in the market for a driver's side door and the wood interior trim that runs across the dash. You can send me pics of the items and what you want for 'em at rizinglion@yahoo.com. Good luck.
  18. Never thought of that option. The wood on the dash of my sc300 is faded... do you have pics of the process... maybe I can have a shop refinish mines since the dealer wants like $600 for the piece...
  19. I'm upgrading my tires and rims to 18's and I've got a brand new bridgestone eager oem size for sale... 40 bucks takes it home... I'm in the miami area, local buyers prefererable.
  20. '84 mazda rx-7 college... first pimp ride '88 mazada rx-7 college... can you say redline friendly... that car was the bomb unfortunately, few mechanics could work on it '95 Honda del sol SI ... Only car I've bought brand new. First off the lot... fun in the sun, no juice, but cool little ride ''95 Honda Accord EX... only four door I've ever owned and probably the last... I was strung out on something when I bought that... seriously though, good solid car '93 Nissan 300ZX... BEST DAMN CAR I've ever owned... balls to the wall fast... upgraded intake, greddy exhaust, performance chip. etc... Biggest mistake I've ever made, selling that black beauty... she was a gem '95 lexus sc300... beautiful car but I still miss my Z
  21. Came across this product on the net. If anyone else has heard of it or tried it, let me know if it worked for you... My sc's lights are yellow as hell and I'm thinking about trying this product out...
  22. Who redid your wheel (Dahozzman and did you follow the steps that Sadistic stated? I liked the other options but I reallly would like the feel of real wood and new leather. Damn those dealers and there loaner cars. Those '05 three spoke wheels would be killer inside a '95 coupe so I'm trying to get the next best thing. If you have pics, please post. Thanks guys.
  23. A lot of great info. You've got my thanks. Would TAP recycling be the best option for finding a used wheel? I definently would prefer the actual wood trim on the wheel but to splice the wiring for a new airbag seems costly, especially if the dealer is involved. Does anyone have pics of the one with the wood graphic print on it? figure it's worth a look at least.
  24. Hey guys. I've got a worn out steering wheel in my '95 sc300 and I was wondering if it was possible to swap it out with the leather and wood steering wheel the newer lexus' use. Has anyone tried this with success and what year lexus will swap out directly without modification? btw, would that be possible with the autmomatic gear shift knob as well?
