  1. I am having the same problem. I took out all the bulbs from the third brake light and tapped into the positive and negative wires. The spoiler now works, but the brake light out warning light stays on. Now there is also a clicking sound coming from under the shift knob that clicks if I press the brake when in park. I took the console off and noticed that the clicking sound is coming from a white switch thing on the right side of the shifter that moves up and down when you press the brake. Back to the warning light. I am pretty sure that it has something to do with the third wire that is connected to the third brake light that most likely detects if a bulb goes out. This wire I am talking about was not tapped. Does anyone know how to fix it so the warning light does not come on?
  2. Couldn't they work without the auto leveling feature, without the rear suspension thing, so that all i would need would be the 2 bulbs, 2 ballasts, and ecu?
  3. Hey all, What would I need for a halogen to HID conversion on my 99 GS300 if I were to find the stock parts instead of buying an aftermarket package? I know I would need the ballasts. Aren't they two small boxes with the actual lights attached? What else would I need? Thanks.
  4. Thanks for the input, The reason for me asking about the ecu's power adjustment under certain throttle activities is because I was driving around town today running errands, never exceeding 50 mph and at a stop light, i cut off the A/C, put the ETC on PWR Mode and gunned it, though not to the floor. However, I didn't get the pickup I'm used to at all. I've had the 99 GS300 for about 3 weeks and used to drive a 10 yr old Explorer so I'm still having to get used to the sensitive throttle. I wanted to know if the reason for me not getting the pickup I expected off the line this afternoon was becuase the ECU had been monitoring a light throttle most of the day and when it felt me gun it, maybe it hadn't had time to adjust compared to when you gun if from just getting off the interstate...
  5. Does anyone know if the 99 GS300's have a drive-by-wire throttle, or another feature I think is called a "driver sensing algorithm?" If I am correct, the "driver sensing thing" monitors the driver's use of the throttle for a certain period of time and adjusts engine power depending on how the throttle is being used? I suspect that an example could consist of light throttle use in "inner city" driving at low speeds, so the computer adjusts power efficiently for low speed driving? I would like to know if my 99 GS300 has one, both, or none of these two features... Thanks
  6. Skperf, I wanted to know what you mean by there still being a "glare?" I have not seen a picture of HID lights in complete darkness like the pic I took last night, so does that mean that HID's wouldn't show the glare in the picture like the one I posted, or do you mean that the Silverstar's glare will reduce as they begin to break in to match the "HID look?" Also, how do I throw in a picture in my post and have it appear with the text (that I'm typing now) rather than as download link?
  7. Hey, take a look at the Sylvania Silverstar on the left that I threw in my '99 GS300 tonight versus the regular Sylvania Halogen on the right. Can you tell much difference from the pic?
  8. Good deal, I completely understand now. Thanks for the info. Talk to you guys later.
  9. PIONEERSUBY, I think that I'm okay. My '99 GS300 came with the Lexus Premium "Pioneer" system that includes the 6-disc cd changer. I have not pulled it out yet to look at the back, but think that I will be okay when purchasing the AutoToys adapter to enable me to add on an AUX audio source. Thanks to all you guys for the technical info. This is my first time using any kind of Web Forum and see that it is TEN TIMES BETTER than having to call all over the place to find the same info. Peace out.
  10. I received my '99 GS300 Friday night and absolutely love it. It was a huge step up from a '93 Ford Explorer with 164,000 miles. I have the Lexus Premium System and I believe that it sounds GREAT to my ears. I've been throwing in all types of music the past two days and find that the 215 watts (stated by the window sticker) are plenty loud. I was thinking about what PIONEERSUBY said about not having the 5 knobs from the Nak system. I'm sure you guys all know that the sound countrols on the audio selector knob above the ASL button (Bass, Mid, Treble, Fade, Bal) are just as easy to access. You can turn the ASL off. I think I can tell a difference when the sound rises, just as you can slightly with the Delco systems thrown in GM autos. Anyway, I have not heard the Levinson or Nak systems yet and was quite worried about how the Lexus Premium Audio would sound, but I am thoroughly impressed!!! When you pay for a Lexus, you should be getting a great sound system. Lastly, relating to the '98 Prem. System. not having the 12-pin connector for the aux adapter from AutoToys.com, is this a problem for the '99 GS Prem. Systems too? Thanks.
  11. Does the same go for the '99 GS300? I thought I was getting a '98, but it is actually a '99.
  12. Anyone know the reduction in drag coefficient from the '98 and up GS300's with a spoiler installed? I know that it's .29 without...... Faster than a stock Corvette Z06 and all stock BMW sedans!!!!!!
  13. I just threw up a post in the Nakamichi Stereo Vs. "Standard Unit" topic asking for a detailed comparison between the two. I'll paste it here again: I would like to know if the Premium System pretty much sucks or if it's quite nice for a standard system for a $45G + car? I just found out that I am getting a 1998 GS300 tomorrow (June, 27th, 2003) as a surprise. I have been reading up about the car because I don't know to much about Lexus' and have more expertise in BMW's and Infiniti's. Anyway, I haven't seen the car yet and wanted to know what you thought of the sound quality between the Prem. Sound System v. the Nakamichi one. Any idea if they have an AUX input for a Delphi SkiFi Satellite Radio Receiver, or is the only option to use an FM Modulator? I don't know which one I'm getting and would like to know the watts of the Premium System, that I think is made my Pioneer? I think the Nakamichi has 220 watts through 5 amps and seven speakers? How would you compare these two systems with Infiniti and Bose car audio systems. Lastly, are the HID's optional in the '98 300/400, or were HID's not available in '98. Thanks. So excited to get the car so that's why I'm asking all these questions when I could wait a day and find out myself. Thanks all. Chris Whatley Auburn, AL
  14. Overall, does the Premium system suck or is it quite nice compared to other systems, since the car is almost 50 Grand new?
