  1. Aloha guys, I have been hearing a lot about those 3.5 v6 having a rubber hose going from the engine to the oil cooler that could burst at any time! My mechanic says that I would see a drip before it blew and lunched the motor. How do I tell if I have an oil cooler? Do you folks think the rubber part would leak before bursting? pins and needles Ed
  2. I don't know about your inspection station, but to check the fluid level is kind of involved. I think that the car must be up on all fours and level. engine running and at a specific trans fluid temperature. ' hope they did all this. Ed
  3. Aloha folks, my A/C after running well will not come back on after shut off for a 1/2 hour or so. The other day, it came on after 10-15 min. If I wait several hours it comes on fine. The mechanic mentioned several possible problems, one of which was low on Freon. I have had no trouble adding Freon to my Ford but this is a Lexus and am a little shy. Do you think it is worth a try or a poor diagnosis? Thanks Ed
  4. You are correct. Oil is the life of the engine. If you change it yourself the cost is low. I change my oil and filter every 2-3K miles. but don't drive much. If there is no leak, I wouldn't worry about the small o ring.
  5. Aloha CT, sorry had black wheels but bought silver ones and put on tires. The silver ones must have been from a Honda 'cause the hubs have an H on them. I have a jpg file of a Lexus logo and printed it to fit the hub. Glue it on and several coats of clear lacquer and pray. Once again, the Lord has saved us. We are on the Big Island and our fires were way on the north side. The horrible fires are on Maui, far from us. Ed
  6. well CT, I painted one hub black. It looks awful! I'll try silver. Ed
  7. Yikes, that is slow!!, I was under my ES350 Friday and didn't see any rust. That says a lot for Hawai'i.
  8. The French make some qurkey cars but the 505 was as easy to drive as this ES 350. I'd buy another if I could afford it.
  9. Not a problem CT, I have always been a German car fan, this is my first Japanese car. It is proving to be a real education. the transmission is going out now! God bless and thanks for the help, Ed
  10. Well the wheels fit on the car but my problem is the center hub that has the cars logo on it. Thanks Ed
  11. Aloha folks, when I bought my ES 350, it had black painted 19" wheels and tires. I bought 4 17" rims from Craig's list not knowing the center hubs with a big "H" on them would be a different size than Lexus. Is there anything that I can do to get Lexus center hubs on these wheels? Thanks for any help God bless, Ed
  12. Well, Amazon has them for less than $1, I must determine which size.
  13. I found them on ebay ( $8.50) each! ' think the dealer can meet that?
  14. Aloha, can I put a 17" inch tire on the front left, and an 18"spare tire on the front right. thanks, folks Ed
  15. I removed the engine covers today to view the air cleaner. The little tabs got all buggered up and won't go back on. What are these called and where can I buy some? I am sure the dealer wants a bunch for them. Thanks Ed
  16. Thanks guys, but if I see a set of 17s from a Toyota or Ford with rims, will they bolt onto my Lexus? I am looking for used tires and rims. Ed
  17. Aloha folks, looking through used rims and tires, how can I know what will fit my 2007 ES 350. I think that it is supposed to have 17" thanks Ed
  18. Well, I am new to Lexus and new to this site. BUT I have been told that if the mileage is well over 100K not to change it. That said, I just bought an 07 with 160K and I am having the fluid changed Thursday. I will report if there are any problems in a week or two. If you can wait that long. Ed, I hope that it works out for us.
  19. Aloha, how long did you wait for the hot A/C components to cool down? If you trust the A/C tech ok but to me "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
