  1. Yeah the gas for any car is expensive right now.

As for the going to the right... It could be the front end with those miles. Do you hear any noises? Did the person who did the alignment say anything about the front end?

  2. The place where I purchased my rotors (drill holes and slots) stated, "you should use semi metalic since the ceramic could chip with the slots."

After replacement the brakes have no sound and work perfectly.

  3. Congrats. Best 2k you will ever spend!

I love my 93 and I am sure you willl also.

Some parts are expensive (like every car), but if it drove that far with no issues you should be okay.

Send pictures when you get them!

    Cheers

  4. Ahhhhh... I forgot about something.

This cop pulled me over and I was doing about 78 or 79... He stated I was doing 83... I thought he was full of *BLEEP*, but listened. Hel did let me go but a few days later I realized my 17s put me about 3+ miles off (at 78-80 miles) per hour. So what does this mean..

Well if I think on a long trip I get about 22MPG... I need to add another 17 - 23 miles to that 440 mile trip.... That could give me an extra 1.15 MPG. So I am curious if I do say around 60 would I hit 25 MPG.

Might have something to do with the 10% decrease in performance

I suppose if this is the case that there is a 5% decrease then at 75 I would be doing about +3.75 or 78.75. So this would once again change my MPG by somewhere around the 1.15MPG.

YES I just increased my gas mileage by

Now my problem my LS hates to go less then 70. Also I love to cruise at 75 or now 80. Cheers

  5. Holy crap. Thank god I did not do this job.

All I can say if it is this challening for you I would have used the crowbar on my car.

For 150 bucks I got one hell of a deal. Gramps... My LS is a 93 and the paint was factory, but it does have a nice wax job

  6. At 65- or 75+ my car is perfect. At 70 there is a slight shake at times. I suspect the wheels, but its aggrivating.

So far I have rotated the tires once (after this I noticed the problem.) Picked up the lifetime alignment, which was sorta useless since company justified they were right on. Of course with time it may come in handy.

Well have a great day and cheers. Any advice appreciated.

  7. Hey man did you see pictures of my LS. I spent some money on the clear front bumper lights ($50) and the red and white rear tail lights with red LED's for $180. Added some tint ($200) and the car is awesome. So for $500 bucks you can truly make your car a 2000. :)

Of course I went on and added nice wheels and tires, then rotors and a great wax job. The LS looks mint.

  8. Oh wait. The new car smell. XTRA MART for 2.99 a years worth of spray.

I would much rather have 30,000+ in the bank then get a new car. Also the new gadgets? If the AC/heat, cruise and radio work how much has really changed? Also leather 10 years ago is similar cows as today.

Also the IS is a toy. Nothing against the car since I have never driven one, but it is small. Probably fun, but small. Stick with the best LEXUS has to offer the LS!

  9. DONT DO IT!!!

Man you have a paid off car with minimal taxes, insurance and no car payment. Okay so gas costs 30 cents more for premium. SO each time you fill up you spend an extra $5 to $6 bucks. For the ride, extra leg room, comfort and knowling that your car will drive to 200k with basic care is priceless.

If you do get the new IS prepare to pay an extra $300 for car payment, $100 for insurance and $100 taxes monthly. So thats an extra $500 bucks monthly. Also you gain less leg room and a downgrade from one of the best cars on the road... The king of the LEXUS fleet the LS400.

Also if a normal tank (20 gallons) in the LS costs up to $6 more for 400+ miles then thats $15 per thousand miles. Make that $10,000 miles and its $150 bucks... Make that 100,000 miles and you save $1500 bucks. Throw in the fact that you would get at least 30% better gas mileage (23 vs. 30mpg) and you get a savings of $1950 dollars for 100,000 miles. So after 7 years of driving and spending about $40,000 extra on payments, interest, insurance and taxes you lose $30,000.

Also if this LS only has 50k you dont drive much do you?

God bless and keep the LS

  10. FOR A TOTAL OF 140 bucks I had 4 new rotors and break pads put on my LS400. This was just labor, but parts and shipping cost about 300 bucks.

The result is no more noise and nice breaking. ALSO the look is worth a million dollars. I will take pictures, but I have to say this is awesome! The slots and holes are awesome. The heat is a lot less then you can imagine. When I drove about 10 miles I got out and then touched the brakes and it was not even warm.

    DISCLAIMER: BE CAREFUL

Cheers to the mod and LEXUS
