I apologize. This hopefully explains better, I have replaced VVT solenoids and an O2 sensor. According to the codes I got when scanning. I drove about 50 miles with no cel or VSC light. Then there they were again. I rechecked the codes and cleared them again. If I start, the engine cel and then VSC comes. I am thinking that I screwed up when replacing the bank one VVT solenoid. The solenoid was a little difficult to install. And I can't find the VVT filter. Maybe it was the resistance. -

Thanks for the advice it is much appreciated. Now that it has been bleed correctly. I now have power with no leaks. -

I finally finished replacing the rack and pinion on the 99 ls 400. Yesterday Saturday 26 Aug. My old rack was leaking, so after replacing it, there is no power steering. what are the possibilities? A bad rack or a bad power steering pump has anyone had this problem after replacing the rack and pinion? Please help, I don't hear the whining of the pump. Just remember that maybe it thought's.

I have replaced the engine mounts on my 99 ls400. While replacing the rack and pinion. The access was better. Since I am working at my own pace I still have to replace the rack. Both racks have what I think are ratio marking the old one 1-2 the replacement has 1 - 1 does anyone know for sure if these are numbers for the gear ratio in the rack and pinion? Thank you in advance

I have to replace the steering rack. The engine mounts are in need of replacement. Is it easier to replace the engine mounts while the rack is out?

my ls 400 has no power steering above 30 mph. any idea why it doesn't work after 30 it is a 99 Lexus

I know some about electricity the fuses in the relay harness both melted out. I know that load or amperage draw will cause the fuse to melt. The engine has been swapped it now has a 4.3 engine and also a 120 Amp alternator. I thinking of replacing the fan with one that draws fewer amps. I can't afford to upgrade the alternator.

I have 02 rx300 with what I hope is a bad air intake control valve #2. It is not the air idle control. I can not find the youtube post about this valve. I have replaced the O2 sensors a couple of times. Vsc and CEL lights will stay off for a short time after replacing O2 sensor. The transmission shifts fine as long as there are no lights on. When the lights come on, the next stop. The transmission. Upon moving fails to shift into overdrive. And it shifts hard. Has anyone had this problem with their 02 RX300

02 RX 300 replaces o2 sensors vsc on CEl on and transmission will not shift in overdrive while lights are on. Reset codes lights off trans shifts find. I think I saw an article somewhere that said, the intake air control valve #2 would cause this. This is not the idle air control valve. I cannot Find the post or the article, any help would be appreciated thanks.

Thank you for those facts, can the six speed be installed and work in 98-2000 ls 400. Being electronic it would need a separate control unit.

What did year did the lexus ls transmission change five to a six speed auto ?

I have 2 code which I don't remember, one was for a bad o2 sensor the other is for a cam position sensor. How many cam position sensors are there on the ls430

I know these are old post, however on the 99 ls400 there is the suit filter and the filter for the fuel regulator both are in the tank. And of course the online filter on the passenger side near the differential.

I had sometime to get under my LS and replaced the trans mount no more vibration. Thanks again for the input.

Thank you for your input I was thinking the drive shaft. I had not considered the transmission mount it is still a few days until I and get under the vehicle. thank again I see this conversation took place in 2009

the vibration started at 55 and gone down ever since. thanks for question because speed for vibration is always lower it more than likely the drive train. any will check it out . when I get over surgery

This may a possibility. I would thank that if it is a tire, I should have notice it before engine swap. And it may be, or I am I just trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. thank you very much.

I have 99 ls400 base, that has a vibration. the engine has been swapped, engine and trans were pulled and installed as a unit. after swap the vibration started mild. now I don't drive it much because of the vibration. the motor mounds were replaced. at idle it doesn't vibrate, only when driving is it possible the drive shaft was installed back or the saddle bearing needs to be replaced. I replaced the torque converter bolts hoping that was it. any ideas is appreciated

Update: I think I have got it after all the work, time, and money spent. I started checking again I found an unbelievable vacuum leak around lower intake manifold. replace gasket today runs great thanks for all of the support. something that simple fix. when the engine was swap the starter was replaced. The gasket moved or something apparently cause a vacuum leak. I had no idea a vacuum leak could cause random misfires. I was sure it was an ignition problem.

I did not find evidence of broken wire or shorted connection in the wiring harness. so at this point I will retrace everything that I have done, perhaps I have over looked something. I will start with ecu

It is possible that the undercharged battery is destroying you alternator. the alternator trying to support the load of ls400

I inspected the injector connectors, checked continuity from ecu to connectors Just to be sure I am changing the connectors. I did find a vvti connector not latching. will continue testing
