  1. No apologies are necessary; your intention was great. That's what this forum is about: owners helping owners. Thank you for the great help always.
  2. Yes, after removing the timing belt and the cam gear. Thank you very much!
  3. Thanks for your input. I had no idea that there was a VVT position sensor. I found it in an exploded view while searching for something else.
  4. I have seen tutorials for changing the VVT solenoid, but no one has ever mentioned the VVT position sensor. Does it ever go bad? If so, how difficult is it to replace?
  5. Let's put this puppy to bed. I found a YouTube video with the cam seal being replaced. The timing belt had to be removed to remove the cam end cap. Thanks for your help and support.
  6. Thanks once again. Paulo57509, you are a wealth of information. I was able to remove the plug from the end cap, yet the end cap did not come off. I will keep trying things until It comes out or I get weary and stop.
  7. I checked, and the plug is in the cam end cap, not in the head. It is more than likely keeping the end cap from being removed. At this point, I must figure out how to remove the plug without causing damage.
  8. It could be possible that the plug is causing the cam cap not to release. I tried to free the cap again. I looked at many past post and most replies came from you Paulo57509 with great information thanks you very much.

  10. Thank you once again. I can lift the cam end cap, and it stops. I will try to remove it again tomorrow, very gently, hoping not to damage anything. Thanks again.

  11. I like the way you give information. It's simple without a condescending tone.
  12. Thank you for your assistance. I appreciate your help. If I understand correctly, I do have to remove the timing belt from the cam gear. Also, remove the cam gear to remove the end cap. So, I am retired and tired. I will take my time and do it all over again. I was hoping I would not have to do that. I was able to break the sealant, but I still can't get the cam end cap off.
  13. I need to replace the vvt filter which is in the head under the front cam end cap. I have taken the valve cover off and removed the bolts holding the cap. tapped it to get it loose. so there I am. any help would appreciated.
  14. I got a kit without a tensioner. The water pump is new. Everything is new, but not the tensioner . thank you
  15. I have installed a new timing belt on my Lexus LS 400. installed the tensioner and removed the pin. Now, it appears that I have slack in the timing belt. From the crank to the left camshaft was tite, and from the left camshaft to the right camshaft was tite. From the rt. camshaft to the crank was a little slack. and I pulled the pin from the tensioner. Now, I think that reusing the tensioner was not the right thing to do. Thoughts, please
