  1. I'm not sure what the point if that would be. I have several cars and usually go to Costco and get the most premium tire and they usually have a $50 coupon if you buy four. I needed two and have found if you check around for price it pays. I bought two $69 tires in the proper size from Amazon prime, that were made in China. Had them mounted, balanced and they seem about the same as my $250 Michelins from Costco. Seem to be good value on my 2007 ls460 with 149k miles.
  2. When it comes to an independent look for a shop that isn't on a main road with expensive rent. Find an older guy with gray hair.
  3. If you have brake problems might want to get the Japanese parts and not the less expensive Chinese parts. Got some Chinese tires on Amazon prime for $69 rather than $250 Michelin's at Costco(did just two) and they seem fine.
  4. I had vsc light come on and Midas reset it. Told me to use premium. I still use regular and it hasn't come back on. When the $3500 abs actuator light came on I ordered part from internet advertising dealer in Dallas for like $2800. Had it shipped to Miami and installed it at non stocking dealer that sold me the car. Funny global story: When the light came on I was with a Spanish pilot/mechanic that pulled out a device and read the code. He texted code to friend that works on Lexus at dealer in Europe. Text immediately came back "you !Removed!". Now I know why car was cheap as dealer knew about this fault as it showed up on my test drive. They said the fixed it but obviously I got the jammy as they figured out some way to disable that until I has some miles on it. It wasnt a certified car and was cheapish in the pearl/beige/chromes that I wanted. It's served me well since and will hit 150,000 this week and I purchased at 70,000 Miles.
  5. If you get a 10mm battery ratchet for $15 on Amazon it makes it a snap to remove cables from terminals. I know this from last week when wifey closed trunk on luggage strap and this forum suggested 30 second disconnect of battery will reset trunk lock that was jammed at Houston airport. A month ago I had battery failure in put-in-bay Ohio and had independent replace battery and he said I had similar corrosion as to what is described by poster. No Lexus dealer nearby so used independent or intuition.
