  1. I bot the 4.1 version and went to install it myself and the car said it cant read it.  I put it in my PC and it sees the files just fine??

I have an '03 GX470, did i get the wrong DVD?

you have a 2002 2003 genertation 3 computer part number 86841-33060. takes 3rd genration update 86271-33033. data 4.2. generation 4 computer part number 86841-50090 takes disc 86271-33044. data 4.2 .the 4.1 dvd disc part number 86271-33043 has been voluntarily recalled by lexus and is defective.trhey mainly came on 2005 vehicles. . yes you boughrt one of the recalled discs from an unscrupulous seller with a buyer beware attitude. i think the people selling the recalled discs shoud be arrested as they could cause someone to have an accident telling them to turn down one way streets the wrong way.

  2. I have purchased a CD capable radio and a cd changer, but the car was not wired for a cd changer.  Does anyone know where I can get a cable to go from the radio to the cd changer.  My car is a 94' ES300.

    Thanks!!

yes i haver one. it is a shielded 16 foot long cable so it will not get any electrical interference like non shielded wiring. sincer you are running the cbale you can insta;ll the changer anywhere you want. the best place is to hang it from the back of the rear trunk celing and get it up off the trunk floor like originasl factory location. it also will fit under the passenger seat if you take off the silver metal case . yuu could change the magazines by reaching behind the passenger seat. email me at pioneersuby@woh.rr.com for more info odr pictures.

    Pioneersuby,

I sent an email to the address above. Did you receive the email?

    Thanks!!

no sign of any emails about the gs cd changer cable that the factory forgot to install on all the 98 gs300

  4. Hi

I recently purchased a 95 LS400.  The Lexus dealer told me that the Nakamichi unit is relatively new out of another vehicle.  It works great.  I am having the engine ecu rebuilt and was advised that I may need the security code if the ecu was replaced or battery was removed.  I have no manuals and the owner's manual doesn't mention it.  How do I figure the code out? How do I set it to what I want? Do I even need to be concerned?  I recently removed the battery, and the code was not necessary.

    thanks

    Yo

the code was owner installed and hardly no one set any codes. the code is not set at the factory like bmw and gm mitsubishi honda. they finally stopped havring codes.

  5. I'd like to add a CD changer to my 98 ES300. I know I can buy one from a dealer, but would perfer to not spend that much. I've checked eBay for a used one, but not seen one that was for exactly for my model and year. Does anyone know what range of models used the same changer as I need? And are there any other places I should look besides eBay?

    Thanks,

    Chris

art email me at emancy@woh.rr.com.i live in ohio and have a new in the box es300 changer with new the new glovegbox parts and also used one.

  6. GREAT...I just got ripped off on eBay buying one of the defective discs! (ARGH).

    I have a 2001 GS300 with Nav version 2.1

I put the 4.1 in and the system says it's unreadable.

I got my hands on version 3.2...same thing.

Is there something special I am to do to enable using a newer version?

Thanks in advance from this newbie to the forum!

yes the special thing to do is get a disc that was made to update yours. NOT ONE THAT CAME IN A 2004 BUT ONE MADE IN 2004 TO UPDATE THE OLDER DISCS . the 2003 update has part number 86271-33032 on the disc. the bubble wrap had part number mn 00230-dvd03-cy. the 2004 update has part numnber 86271-33033 on ther dvd and the bubble wrap has MN-00230-dvd04-CY.

  7. FABIO, WHAT LATEST VERSION DID YOU GET ON EBAY FOR 125.00 FOR YOUR RX300??? I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET AND CALLING LEXUS AND MANY DEALERS AND HAVE THE 4LG CANPAIGN RECALL OF NAV DISCS ; SO I WILL SHARE MY FINDINGS.

DOES IT SAY 4.1 AT THE TOP OF THE DVD AND VERSION 4.2 AT THE BOTTOM. IF IT SAYS 4.1 AT THE TOP AND JUST PART NUMBERS AT THE BOTTOM ENDING IN 86271-33043 AND DOESNT SAY 4.2 THEN YOU BOUGHT THE VERSION THAT LEXUS RECALLED AS DEFECTIVE. MANY EBAY SELLERS ARE SELLING THE DEFECTIVE VERSION WHICH WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN DISCARDED AFTER FREE REPLACEMENT BY LEXUS . THE DEFECTIVE VERSIONS HAVE DRIVERS TURN DOWN 1 WAY STREETS AND SHOW THEM ON ROADS SEVERAL STREETS OVER FROM THE ONE THEY ARE DRIVING ON. THE DEFECTIVE VERSIONS ARE FINDING THEIR WAY TO EBAY. I DONT KNOW IF THE SELLERS ARE JUST IGNORANT OR JUST TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE AVERAGE EBAY BUYER. ANOTHER WAY TO TELL IF YOU HAVE THE CORRECTED LATEST UPDATE IS IT SAYS THAT NAVTEQ NAME AS CO MAKER OF THE DISC. NAVTEQ THE FIRST AND ORIGINAL MALKER OF NAV DISCS AND WAS NEVER MENTIONED ON PREVIOUS EDITIONS OF LEXUS SOFTWARE BUT WERE HIRED BY LEXUS TO STRAIGHTEN OUT THE DEFECTIVE 4.1 DISC. IF YOUR DISC MENTIONS NAVTEQ AT THE 9 OCLOCK LOCATION LISTING OF MAKERS OF THE DISC YOU HAVE THE LATEST . IF IT ONLY MENTIONS GDT , GEOGRAPHIC DATA TECHNOLOGY AND INFOUSA YOU DONT HAVE THE LATREST VERSION. IT HAS TO ALS SAY NAVTEQ TO BE THE LATEST VERSION.

  8. I have the RX300 and I bought a DVD for the Nav system for $125 on eBay.  You need to make sure they are offering the latest version.  When I received it, the DVD was sealed and it has the license to use it. I worried that it was a copy, but the seller seem to have many positive comments on prior sales.

Another tip is that the lexus parts website sells them cheaper because they do not include installation. the installation is not difficult and there are instructions on this group how to do it.

    Regards,

    Fabio

I've always noticed some inaccuracies and problems with the navigation system in my 2002 IS300.  I started looking around and I noticed that some of the problems may be due to the fact that I'm using "data 2000 ver. 1" software.  I bought the IS300 2002 new and that was the softare it came with.  I even bought the extended warrenty.  When I brought this up with my dealership they wanted to sell me the upgrade for $250 bucks.  ouch.  Does anyone know of a better/cheaper way?  Also I wonder if I copy of the Lexus Version 4.2 DVD would work.

    Thanks guys.

  9. you get a different opinion from evey expert on the fitment of dvd nav discs in toyota lexus products. one thing for sure the generation 4 dvds dont fit earliewr models. also is there a part number on the computer that tells you which generation computer you have. these are questions no one at the dealers can answer,. they start talking about vin numbers not dvd computer part numbers. so i am not making much sense of the generations of software either. the main problem is defining which discs are generation 4 and which are not because they wont work on earlier dvd comuters made by navtech. . i wonder which update the dealer was offering for 250.00 .

  10. My speakers play fine when I play the radio.  BUT, when I play my CD changer (aftermarket w/ FM modulator, JVC) the right side speakers (front and back) are distorted.  They are not distorted when I play the radio, but as soon as I try to listen to a CD the right side is distorted.  They play, but distorted.  They were working fine up until a couple of days ago.  What should I check?  Please Help.  Thanks!

try different fm radio channel. the right and left side are equal to the 2 stereo signals of fm multiplex. so its like your off frequency on fm station.

  11. I just got my 91 ls400 recently and i installed an aftermarked 8" sub in the stock location but im looking to hook it up to an amp. I was wondering if somone could help me out with what i need to do but most importantly how and where to run the wires from my trunk.

the subwoofer amp is to the left of the gas tank behind the back trunk wall covering. there are wires to the amp that can be used and possibly powered and triggered if amp not real high watt.

  12. the 98 lexus nak system has a dac box between the headunit and the cd changer which is like an equalizer which can be controlled by the 5 knobs on the front of the nak headunit. it doesnt have automatic sound leveling (asl )like the pioneer system which changes your volume automatically. . also the nak amp is much superior to the pioneer amp and is 3 times bigger so is mounted in the right quareterpanel of the trunk not in the dash to the right of the changer like the pioneer amp. . it was actually made by nakamichi like the equailzer. all other parts of the system were made by pioneer even on the nak system.

  13. the disc drive navigation was in the gs400 from 98 to 2000 . when the engine changed to gs430 in 2001 the dvd based navigation system started. aftermarket dvd and tv tuner or xm, ipod etc can be added to the factory systems with adapters that plug into the amp. the actual dvd navigation computer unit does not play dvd movies only reads navigation disc. if you find one with out navigation a used factory navigation system could be added on for around the same as aftermarket.

  14. there are no oem amps with rca plugs that i know of in any manufacturer. the adapter is going to match up the power and output and input wires so you can use your stock amp and speakers. the cd changer conversion is going to plug into the

pbus cd changer port of your deh- p4600mp headunit. the amp is only 12 inches away from the head unit so hopefully no electical interfence will occur. they do have adapters with rca plugs when you are going to use an aftermartket amp but i dont believe that is necessary with your system. deh means your headunit has an internal amp putting out 22 watts per channnel and those wire will be connected to the input wires of the factory amp. if that causes distortion then you will have to connect the speaker output wires to the lexus amp output speaker wires for a direct connection to the speakers. you would need an aftermarket amp to use your amp output rca plugs on the pioneer unit. then you would need all new speakerrs as they are only rated 20 to 40 watts like most oem radios. . aftermarket amps putting out 200 or more watts would blow the speakers. the aftermarket seller is counting on your to keep coming back for the next addition not stop at a 179.00 headunit.

  15. the 2000 gs still has the 2 connctor 10 pin 6 pin radio connector on 2000 still. the 20 pin connctor didnt start untill 2002. . the 10 pin 6 pin topyota harness will plug into your radio connectors but the wire code is all different for toyota than for lexus. i can send you the correct 2000 gs connectors for free so your harness wont have to be cut so the next owner can throw away the pioneer unit and put the factory back some day without having cut off connectors. it took me 8 hours to reconstruct a gs owners original radio harness who wanted to go back to original and discovered all the factory radio plugs had benn cut off. so i will give you free plugs to prewvent that from happening to your gs. . i will also send the complete color harness chart so you will hook up the proper wires from the pioneer to the lexus adapter connectors i will send. email me at pioneersuby@woh.rr.com for more info. i am a gs wiring harness expert and just got done converting a 2000 pioneer gs to the factory nav system .it was all plug in and play harness so a simple aftermarket conversion is nothing compared to the factory navigation conversion wiring harness. also i can convert your gs factory changer to work with the pioneer p9400 head unit so you can still have your 6 disc glovebox changer.

  16. I am looking to wire my XM radio Roady 2 head unit directly into my ES300 "premium stereo".  I am using the FM modulator now and I'm not really too happy with the result.  I do not want to use the cassette adaptor either.

I figure that I can tap into my CD changer input/output and add a hookup for my XM through that.  I would like to find the male and female wiring harness plugs that connect the CD changer to the radio head unit and build a switch so I can switch between the two outputs.

Does anyone know the part number for both sides of the harness?  Also, where is a good place to get them?

    Thanks,

    Barry

the es300 headunit has 2 sets of serial communication wires and it wont recognize the xm radio tuner output. some owners with lexus navigation systems have been able to accomplish it becuase the nav system splits the lines between the nav screen and the radio head unit. so there is a plug in and play solution but just tapping the lines may not work in a non nav lexus stereo system.

  17. 93 LS400 I was getting some funny noise out of my nakamichi system. Then one day i have no sound at all.My radio still works i can change the radio station. If i switch to cd i can see that the cd is playing i can change the tracks but i get no sound. what could this be? :excl:

YES ITS THE NAKAMICHI 5 CHANNEL AMP LOCATED IN THE TRUNK. . THE CHEAPEST FIX IS TO BUY A USED WORKING ONE FOR 250.00. REFURBING A BROKEN ONE IS 475.00. THE LIST PRICE AT THE DEALER FOR A NEW ONE IS WAY OVER 1000.00. EMAIL ME AT PIONEERSUBY@WOH.RR.COM FOR PURCHASE INFORMATION FOR A USED WORKING AMP.
