Hello all. A quick story about how I came to be a Lexus owner, and then a couple of questions to see if someone might be able to help me. I am a current BMW (E36 M3 and E52) and Audi (2004 S4) owner and came to own my 1993 SC400 this Saturday when a very good friend told me he was trading it for a 2005 Audi A6 3.2. The SC400 only has 56,000 miles on it and is miticulously maintained. I stilll don't know the color, but it looks like Porsche's Seal Gray. Anyway, he told me what he was getting for it and I told him that I would be interested in owning it for that and that way it would stay within our community.
As far as the performance of the SC400 I would say it is meager at best when compared to the German cars I own. Then again, I don't remember Audi or BMW making a car this nice in 1993, so I am happy with the performance. I intend to keep the car for quite a while and will be keeping up with the maintanance on a timely basis. I am already taking it in next week for the 60k service and new rotors and pads. I just changed the oil over to Mobil 1 5w30 yesterday and will continue to make sure the car is in perfect shape.
I think the only thing that is absolutely driving me up the wall is the seating position. Lets face it, there is no lateral support on these things, but I don't really care about that. What I do care about is that my head is always touching the headliner of the car, and the seat is positioned in its lowest setting. :cries: It also has about an inch of play when I accelerate where the seat back moves (I am guessing that is a seat base motor, but don't know anything about Lexus). My question is this, is there anything I can do to make the seat go lower, or am I going to have to replace the driver's seat with a Sparco or Recaro seat. I would really prefer not to replace the seat, as I am going to try and leave the car as stock looking as possible. Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again, and I am very happy to be a Lexus owner.
