I would think if you told the dealer the DVD or I go somewhere else to buy, you would be walking out with the new DVD and the new RX. If there profit loss margin is that close they won't be in business very long.

Yes this time of year the cold seems to get rid of the weak.

Did you check battery voltage?

With rock chips you should check with your insurance company, mine Farmers, will fix a chip for free as long as they don't have to replace the window. I my declarations it states deductable waived if glass repaired rather than replaced.

By chance have you ever had your windshield replaced? I just had mine replaced due to a rock falling off of an overpass construction site and the new window made noise when I went over any bumps on the drivers side. I took it back and the guy slid a piece of paper between the window and the dash and it wouldn't fit right in front of the driver side. They did some dash adjustment and some anti friction tape in that area and the sound like two styrofoam cups rubbing together is gone.

Thanks JIBBY

JIBBY do you remember which Co. or seller you got your wood trim from? I'm looking for a kit for my 96 Accord and found a couple of sellers on Ebay and wanted to know the quality of the trim.

I bought my 2000 RX last Nov with 17500 miles for 25k out the door. It was like new except the crappy OEM Bridgestone tires. I may have paid a little to much but it was the nicest one that I looked at.

I always use 87 in my 00 RX and no knocking. If you were having knocking your knock sensor is not working properly to !Removed! the timing which may have led to an improper fuel-air mixture which could have ruined your bank 1 sensor.

Use the search tool there is some very good info on this subject already.
Yes it does have a cooler.

Chief, not a road race course just running it through the twisties in the mountain areas. What kind of tires are you using and how did the RX handle the snow? There has been lots of talk here about snow and tires.

Maybe the Pace in Wisconsin is a little slower than the rest of the country, or it could be that you don't get out much, or drive in the mountains. I'm sure you have moisture though. Seems like every ones in a hurry here in California, and yes some people hot rod (as much as you can an RX) in a Lexus. Ever read any of the posts about getting more power out of an RX? You don't need a COBRA to have brake fade however I can see that happining in a COBRA.
Sorry to get off topic luxury1.

Thats what I did, The Kirkland Batt is cheaper and has longer warrenty than any of the parts houses.

Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time and will contaminate the system. Water also lowers the boiling point of the fluid and will lead to brake fade in heavy braking , like on mountain roads or road racing.

Yes.

RXinNC, it snowed the day before we went, nothing on the road by the time we were going over the summit. You could see snow around the tops of the surrounding mountains though. It was only in the low 40s so not that cold.

I have the Geolander H/T S on my 2K RX, they are nice tires however I seemed to lose a mile and a half per gallon when I put these on. Seems more that the in town milage was lost than the hwy. I just came back from Lake Tahoe and got an average of 21.7 on the computer. That was from Vacaville to Tahoe. They are also quieter than the old Bridgestones that came on the RX.

Looks like your not paying for rims only chrome. Thats why the exchange. Maybe one of the members in So Cal can check these guys out and let you know if they are good. Here is a link for the same guys for rims without exchange.

When I bought my 2000RX from a Cadillac dealer it had only 1 master key I told them I wanted them to get me another one as part of the deal. They had me order it from the lexus dealer and they paid for it.

Also running your tank dry will lead to fuel pump failure. The fuel cools the pump and it will over heat if run dry.

tealboy you are exactly right, any one who has FWD only can tell right away when you turn a corner in the rain and give it some gas. The front wheels will spin like crazy. With the AWD you get a very slight slip then the computer takes over and you just go around the corner with no more slipping. If you didn't have the AWD in the snow you would find your self spinning on those slight uphills that the little push from the back will stop. I've been driving FWD cars for over 22 years and had an AWD since 98 and I can tell the difference.

If you have the VIN number you can call any Lexus dealer and they can look in there database for any work done at a Lexus dealer, If it was done at an independent shop your out of luck.

Alternator Died While Parked For A Long Time
in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300

You still need to check the output of the alternator to make sure that your battery is not the culprit. A bad battery will not hold or take a charge. See if you have in the 13-14 volt range with the car started, if you do your alternator is ok. have the old battery charged and see if will hold a charge and then load test it. I would suspect that leaving your car for almost a month if the battery is weak, the cold and small drain to run the electronics could kill it.
