Thanks to all I found it in pep boys.

My first trip there I could not located it nor could a worker who never heard of it .

My second trip there another worker show me where it was located, I was in the aisle the first trip but the can does not stand out . They should re think their label to sell more product. Anyway I added it to the oil & gas as recommended on this sight by Toysrme .{Great post sold me} Not through the brake booster yet. How many applacations before it should do some good ? My LX 450 is going on 150,000 but is runing smouth.

I live on Long Island NY & have look in all the major auto parts stores with no success.

I tried looking for it on ebay as well.

Can anyone tell me where to purchase Seafoam.

I just had the LX tuned up by my mechanic replace the following .All parts meet OE spec.

Spark Plugs (6) Ignition Wires Set PCV Valve Distributor Cap Distributor Rotor Button Fuel Filter Air Filter .

He also change 2 drive belts 1 AC belt + 2 small hoses that sit up on top that had cracks .Also added 2 qts oil at my cost of $240 + tip. Which I believe to be a very good price.

When I start my truck the little oil can with drips coming out the spout with the wavy lines underneath light up

My mechanic speaks with a heavy accent . It is more likely I misquoted him .

I believe what he was trying to tell me was that Synthetic oil acts as if it is magnetized by clinging & staying up top & does not go to the bottom of the oil pan as quickly as conventional oil would.

So possibly the low oil light might not come on for that reason.

You could have confirmed the light on start up to see if it lit up.

Yes the oil warning light lights up when starting up the truck.

I check with my mechanic he tells me that Synthetic oil is magnetize & will stay up top cling to all possibly tricking the oil warning light even with dangerously low oil levels.

It will be no problem at all it is just a blend now.

How long till your next oil change?

I will try removing and cleaning the contacts on the connect as I believe the light should have come on to let me know

I was 2 qt low on oil

2,000 miles till my next oil change

I change my oil every 5000 miles. I have a oil leak which I will be fixing sometime before the spring I can remember car manufactures manuals in the past stating every 7,500 miles oil & oil filters every 15,000 then every 5,000 & now every 3,000.

5,000 mile oil & filter changes have always work for me . I own Toyotas v 6 4x4 ex cabs each runing strong with 185,000

While having my LX tuned up my mechanic added 2 quarts of 5-30 conventional oil to my truck but I use 5-30 synthetic oil .

Should this be a concern or not a big deal. Should I change the oil?

Also should have my oil warning light come on?

Thanks for all your advice. I will try new brake hoses as per the advice of my mechanic & post the results once the job is completed . Hopefully in a week or so as I have ordered the parts on line & they should arrived on or about August. 23

Sponge like break pedal close to the floor.

Just replace my brakes cut both front & back rotors install new pads, all is good & smooth when stopping .

However the break pedal is sponge like & just about goes to the floor .

I bleed all the lines & replace the master cylender .

What else can I do to improve the brake pedal ?

Most dealers who do not have you on file as buying a part before or a vehicle will not special order a part as they have no valid info that you will come and pick up the parts for sure. Otherwise they would have a stock room full of non returnable special order parts.

Actually I have purchase parts from them before . Also I was willing to pay in full for the parts on the phone using a major credit card.

I called Lexus of Smithtown parts department 2 weeks ago to ordered 2 door courtesy switches .

I was told by the part guy that they would not let me order the parts using a major credit card over phone because I did not purchase my Lexus from them.

I would of had to make a special trip over to them about a 30 - 40 minute ride one way for me depending on traffic to give the same credit card I could have given over the phone to save me a little time & hassle not to mention fuel.

The parts were $20 each so we are talking $40 .

What I would like to know is this a common policy with Lexus Dealers in your area ?

It appears to me more & more today that business act like they are doing you a favor by taking your money.

I ended up purchasing the same parts over the phone at a Smithtown Toyota Dealer

I told them the parts were for a 97 Toyota Land Cruiser. {Just in case }

The parts were $6 less than Lexus wanted. Also saving $5 in fuel & about 1 1/2 hours of travel time.

My dash board displays a red door open warning light .

Also my door locks switch when I make a left turn & inside dome & door curtesy lights come on .

I believe this to be a bad sensor in one of my doors.

How do I test for this & tell which door has the bad sensor.

Also can any one tell me the Toyota part # for the front & rear door sensor for 1997 LX450

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I do not know if this will help but on my 97 LX 450 the box is in the back passenger side panel. I purchase a new box from Lexus for about $70

I had a remote starter & alarm installed in my 97 LX a year ago so far with no issues.

The work was done at a local car stereo store the type that sells & install alarms stereos, navigation systems & DVD players.

I have remote start my LX from as far away as 100 yards

Total cost of around $320

In my area Long Island NY I purchase gas this morning at $2.79 a gallon.

I also went on line to purchase home heating oil 50 gallons was $2.77 per gallon.

200 gallons at $2.43 per gallon.

I was always under the impression, that gas was more expensive do to the fact that it took more steps to refine than home heating oil.

Is it possible, that oil will cost more than gas this winter do to demand?

If so why year after year no one can figure out the summer demands for gas & the winter demmand for oil?

If I was trapped there with my family I would do whatever it takes to protect my family & people who I can help including looting for food & much needed life sustaining supplies !

I cannot believe it took 4-5 days Just to get food & water there.

The director of FEMA out & out lied when he stated on TV he had no knowledge of the situation at the dome. Also the army engineer who stated on TV that it just was not cost effective to build the levy to withstand a class 5 hurricane. How cost effective would it have been now?

I heard that the Red Cross take a big percent of donations for administration salaries & expensives is this true if so what percent ?

Maybe so however

any gas station I ever have had a flat fix in used plugs.

I myself used them & have never had any problems with the tires even after 2 years of use.
