  1. a few quick questions.... how often would you say you drive it? Once a week? Month? Are you using 91 or better octane fuel? If it is sitting for extended periods of time moisture can build up in the fuel tank. First I would try "SEAFOAM"(only use SEAFOAM). You can pick this up at any autoparts store. It works very well.Don't buy the other crap, its just plain alcohol. Run whatever bad gas is left in the tank out, then pour in the SEAFOAM and fill the tank with 91 octane...93 if you can get it like we have here in Mississippi. If this doesn't solve your problem after 2 tanks(2 cans of SEAFOAM) then change your fuel filter. It's located just in front of you rear driverside tire.WARNING!!!!(this is a !Removed! to do!) Be prepared for this to take at least 45mins-2 hours. Everytime I do one on these cars it seems like the fittings are frozen! Wear Eye protection! fuel+your eyeball=bad day:) Hope this helps! Good luck;)
  2. Thank you sir. Like I said, mods are on hold until warmer weather comes around. Right now all that's been done is my Supra TT shocks w/ Eibach springs for about a 2" drop, 8000k hid lo beams, 2500k yellow fogs, and window tint. The next think on my list is my exhaust setup. I'm either going to do a custom dual Borla setup or a custom Magnaflow 14829 setup. I'm still listening to sound clips and doing research before I decide which way to go on that. As far as wheels go, I have no idea what wheels I'm getting yet, but I do know I'm going with a staggered setup with (front)18x8.5 - 245/40 and (rear)18x9.5 - 285/35. After wheels and exhaust, all hell will break loose on motor work. I'm not revealing what I have planned for that. HINT/GOAL: 900+HP B) never had a Borla set up but I always wanted one. I do know they are high quality and I've never heard a bad sounding one:) I have some of the 350z anv. 18'' on mine (18x8f and 18x8.5r i think thats the width... can't remember right now, but thats close ha) anyways, staggered is good. I get thumbs up on the rims everytime i fill up the tank:) I'm just trying to figure out which lexus center cap i can swap with the nissan one. I think in the spring i'm gonna do a cheapy ebay turbo kit to see what numbers i can come up with.(300whp would be nice) I have a 75 ahot nitrous kit sittin in my living room(i'm too lazy and its too cold to install this second, but that should add to the fun in the future:) I like your ideas. 900hp is a big number, but it is possible. Post up some pics and sound clips when you get the exhaust system.
  3. Come on guys! 30 views and no input. I could use some help with this issue! I know you're a smart gang! I really don't think its your control arm bushings (although they probally are bad given the noise you describe) this is also a common failure in our cars. I believe(based on my experience) the problem is in your steering rack. The "skipping" you describe is a classic sign that it has failed and i'm sure the rack mounts are junk too( another common problem in our cars). When you lower a car this changes the steering angle, thus making it harder on the steering components. When you add that with other factors ( high mileage, a leaking rack or pump) very bad "un-LEXUS" like things happen.
  4. All SC300 and SC400's left the factory with an open differential. .
  5. First of all, who the hell are you with your measly 8 posts trying to tell me what I do and don't like? I am not a "Honda Guy," I am a CAR GUY. I have owned Honda's, Acura's, Nissan's, VW's, Toyota's, even Ford and Dodge trucks. So you can take that dumb comment you just made and shove it up your !Removed!. Second, nobody has or will give me any crap for my car or because of me driving a Lexus, because if they do, they will swallow their teeth. Third, you don't know me, or a single thing about me, or what I have built and have the capability of building when it comes to cars and motors. I know cars like the back of my hand. I will never give ANY car a bad name or reputation because of what I am able to do. By the time I am finished building this car, if you're dumb !Removed! is still on this forum, you will envy my SC and wish you didn't post your retarded comment. When you get on my level, THEN you can make comments like that. So no, you may NOT ask me why I bought this car, because you sound like an arrogant rich prick that probably bought a Lexus because you have money and that's what rich idiots do. Maybe I'm wrong about the rich part, but you are definately are an idiot. GIVE HIM HELL Esscee400!!!! That guy is a prick! I think you SC is very tasteful. All i would say is add a nice set of 18'' wheels and you've got yourself a sick ride or just keep it "sleeper" stock looking, either way you got a great deal and a great looking Lexus:) What future mods do you have planned if i may ask?
  6. you can gut it. it will throw a CEL when you do this, no biggie tho:) You have 3 cats on your car. 1 at the bottom of each exhaust manifold and one downstream in the middle of the exhaust system. they all unbolt(prolly pretty rusty, prepare to break bolts) once you get em off a good power drill and a concrete drill bit should go a long way(they come in different lengths usually about 12-15 inches long) take a pry bar and a good hevay hammer and knock out the rest. its a good idea to put the cat in a vice when you do this. I can't see you having a overheating problem(i've gutted 20 or so in my life on different models and makes and never had that problem.) A car lift will help on this job alot! If you do use floor jacks be sure to use saftey stands(they could save your life!)and ALWAYS wear eye protection! Good luck! Holler if you need more tips:)
  7. 1992 SC300 5-speed too many owners to count! 4 people I know personally have owned it. All failed to bring it back from the dead.(it sat on 4 flats for the better part of 5 years in a tow lot. It was a theft recovery.) bought it for $1100.00 from old buddy Had it for about 7 months. No interior except for dash and a cut up drivers seat! Bought a wrecked SC used the parts to convert to BLACK interior $300! WOOHOO! Added 35th anv. 350z wheels,Brakes, P\S pump replaced, Battery,Fuel pump,Starter, Painted it black(it was gold yuck!) etc. all done by me(easy stuff) still gotta do the alternator(bad bearings, lots of noise) Its my daily driver(60 miles roundtrip) I'm 28 my insurance is $46 per month
  8. 12-15k? thats easy.....do a 2jzgte auto swap from a Supra TT. it'll have the potential for much more power and be super reliable....as far as the suspension goes try supra TT shocks and springs they bolt right on and will lower the car but still retain a good ride. Luxurymods.com has nice classy aero kits.
  9. Sorry, that is correct. I got mixed up yesterday on the the website. I have however heard very good things about lextec from fellow SC300 owners i know personally. i would get the speed-o fixed casue the cost of just one speeding ticket could easily cover the cost of a used "working" cluster or a reman job with Lextec. Keep in mind your speedometer issue might not be the fault of your cluster. A friend of mine and I instsalled a clutch in my SC and forgot to plug in the connector on the manual tranny and mine didnt work until I realized that it was simply unplugged(got in a hurry).
  10. lextasy.com they repair and customize sc300 and sc400 guage clusters
