sab Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 I have a 2004 LX470. It has been to the dealer now for the third time. It has spent about 3 weeks in their care and the problem has only become worse. When you place the car into drive there is a vibration/humm that permiates throughout the car. As soon as you take your foot off the brake and the rpm's come up over 600+ the sound goes away. They claim to have tried, and removed some dampening kit, didn't do it. They have had one of the "Lexus engineers" listen and he claims there is nothing wrong. The car has less then 6000 miles on it. Any ideas????
craig_dot_net Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 I have the exact same problem. Been to the dealer and they say "vehicle is operating as designed". Can you please be more specific about the modifications, place of the welds and where to put the flex coupling. I would like to do this, but I need to give the shop very exact instructions.
mehullica Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 I work for a dealer and have fixed this issue. TSB for it. Replace motor and trans mounts with updated ones. Install frame dampner. Replace exhaust hangers with RX300 ones. Loosen the spare tire if it is cranked down too tight. Then add one of 3 different muffer dampner weights according to which frequency the car owner is noticing the most. It works.
