Les Lex 2018 Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 The entire hood and every piece forward of the doors and windshield are all non-magnetic. Plastic? Composite carbon? Fiber Glass? The skirt that wraps around the rear end from rear wheel to wheel and the rear bumper are also non-metallic.
RX400h Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 Aluminum is non-magnetic. Could that be the material? Some vehicles' lower sections are made of plastic or composite to prevent rust from road salt.
Les Lex 2018 Posted September 1, 2022 Author Posted September 1, 2022 I'll ask the body shop when I go in for service. Under the hood closest to the grill, If I knock on it, it has the sound of plastic, not metal so I'm sure that part is not metal. One of my wife's X-boy friends had a Corvette. Wife always referred to it a a PLASTIC PIG, LMAO...
RX400h Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 The Fiero and Saturn bodies were plastic but the corvette bodies were always a composite, possibly including fiberglass.
Les Lex 2018 Posted September 1, 2022 Author Posted September 1, 2022 I know, Dave, I parked a gold Fiero on the street and a dodge rolled down a driveway unoccupied and crashed into the side. The body parts were plastic. The cost to buy and replace it was under 100 dollars, way back in the 80s. Fun car with the old GM Iron Maiden / 4-banger
