sealevel
Anyone know if HID's were a factory option on the 99 RX? I have an oputunity to buy a factory set of HID's but the seller is not sure what year they are from. Just curios as to how difficult it may be to do. Also, anyone have good/bad experience with aftermarket HID kits? I know there are plenty out and they are all beter than the rest:) Input appriciated as always. wwest
HID wasn't an option on the RX until 2001. IMMHO retrofitting would be a bear.
SKperformance
you need new headlights to fit the his into as well as a leveling sensor and computer better to buy a regular retro kit for $300 for your type of bulbs takes 10 minutes to install
cc///m3
I retrofit the the HIDs from a 5 series in my 99 M3. If your experiences are similar, connecting the stock wiring to the ballast is the easy part. The hard part is modifying the headlight housing to accept the new bulb, and getting that bulb to stay in place. Furthermore, if the headlight housing isn't made for HIDs, then they won't cut off the light pattern at a certain height, and you will blind oncoming drivers. But I'm in the same boat. I'd like to retrofit my Dad's 99 RX300 with HIDs, so I'm interested in hearing aftermarket kit experiences also!
