mikeandd Posted April 27, 2003 Posted April 27, 2003 I just bought a 1991 LS400 with 187,000 on the odometer. The rear shocks or struts seem a bit weak. Is the replacement something that can be done by a shade tree mechanic like me? Has anyone had experience with different brands of replacement shocks? Are Monroe SensaMatics any good for this application? I appreciate any insight you can give me. Thanks.
SW03ES Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 From what I've seen replacing the rear struts can be a somewhat involved job requiring the removal of the rear seats. Someone else who'se done it will chime in... Welcome!
tralhed Posted May 1, 2003 Posted May 1, 2003 do you have air ride?that makes replacement a little easier.I assume since you mentioned aftermarket shocks that you have the spring type suspension.to replace the rear struts you do have to remove the rear seat.you will also need a spring compressor to diassemble the struts.
mikeandd Posted May 3, 2003 Author Posted May 3, 2003 Thanks for the reply. I do not have air suspension. Any suggestions on brand of replacement shocks other than OEMs?
