DCaver Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 Hi everyone, new member to this forum and Lexus ownership. Browsed for this issue and didn't see anything - hope it's not a repeat for you (if it is, just point me in the right direction pls). I recently purchased an '05 GX470, approx 125k miles, in overall excellent condition, except: the instrument cluster (gas, speedometer, tach) work intermittently. Sometimes all work, sometimes only 1-2 work, sometimes none. The issue occurs at crank - whatever is working/not working at cranking stays that way until car is stopped for some time, then we play "cluster roulette" on the next crank. Thoughts?
Lexus Owners Club Posted October 1, 2021 Posted October 1, 2021 It sounds like it could be a battery issue which is enough to start the engine but not enough maintain all systems until it generates a bit more stored energy. A new battery would more than likely resolve it but also check the battery leads and in particular the security and condition of the earth straps
DCaver Posted October 1, 2021 Author Posted October 1, 2021 Now that's an angle I hadn't considered and much better/easier to check that a computer issue. Thanks!
