I'm trying to recharge the R134A in my Lexus. However, when I connect a can to the low side of the system and put the AC "on", the compressor only stays on for several seconds before turning off. Thus, I can't get any refridgerant into the system.

I was told that there is a low charge cutout switch somewhere. I pulled the connector off of the receiver/dryer and shorted out the contacts, but the compressor still cuts off.

Can anyone help out?

connect your refrig can to the low side fitting and submerse the can in

very hot water..say 150F. this will drive the refrigerant into the system and raise the pressure above the low cut-off point and allow the

compresor to kick in.

did you lose all your refrigeratnt thru a leak or are you recharging to and empty system after a repair??

thanks for your input. I did put the can on the exhaust manifold to heat it up, but that did not seem to help. maybe I should try a fresh can.

anyway, do you know where is cutout switch is so I can disable it?
