zenlama Posted May 4, 2004 Posted May 4, 2004 Hi, I have 92 LS with 61,000 miles. Everything seems to be in mint condition, outside of clunking suspension on front right wheel. This car had not been seen by Lexis service since 92. The previous owner told me he had a new a/c compressor put in. When I speed up, I hear a whining when the a/c is on. It seems to normalize when the speed stays constant. The sound worries me so much, that I am reluctant to run the a/c. Could this be the timing belt I hear about, or maybe it was installed badly? Wondering if I am worrying over nothing?
spiller91ls Posted May 4, 2004 Posted May 4, 2004 That whining noise is about just right for a Lexus, I just turned mine on for the first time this weekend when I was in Phoenix and it seemed to make less noise than it did last year. maybe the oil sitting really soaked into the compressor. I also converted it last year to R-134a. sounds like you got a really low milage car for a 92, good deal
SKperformance Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 It might be the belts are loose or or the compressor is slowly locking up a bit..
