Please could someone help me with tips on how to keep the axil maintained. I have driven my ls400 for 29 months now without doing anything maintenance check on the axil. It doesn't have any problems but I feel I should ask to avoid a sudden breakdown.

You can drain and refill it with what is spec'd in the manual.  I think I used what was available, 80W-90 or 75W-90 GL5 gear oil.

That is if its the rear Axle you are talking about.

He asked about the axle not the differential but I see what you mean.

The gear oil in the differential should last as long as the car. I'd say that is one of the least things to worry about breaking.
