frprof Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Please could someone help me with tips on how to keep the axil maintained. I have driven my ls400 for 29 months now without doing anything maintenance check on the axil. It doesn't have any problems but I feel I should ask to avoid a sudden breakdown.
Exhaustgases Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 You can drain and refill it with what is spec'd in the manual. I think I used what was available, 80W-90 or 75W-90 GL5 gear oil. That is if its the rear Axle you are talking about.
sha4000 Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 He asked about the axle not the differential but I see what you mean.
VBdenny Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 The gear oil in the differential should last as long as the car. I'd say that is one of the least things to worry about breaking.
