steve04rx Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 My 2004 RX330 backup camera works but is very dim when it is dark outside. I believe the infrared light(s) are not lighting. If I take an ordinary TV remote control and aim it's IR emitter behind my car then the backup camera picture really improves dramatically in darkness. The IR emitter has been largely non-functional for a year but once or twice it will randomly light up - suggesting an electrical connection issue (which makes sense as I would not expect an IR emitter to burn out in this use). Any suggestions how to access the wiring connections to the backup camera IR emitters or anywhere else there is a junction that might cause this problem?
jetfixer01 Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 My 09 RX350 has a camera but no IR emitter. Here is info for the 08 model, it may be of some help. park assist.pdf
VBdenny Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 I find they fog up so bad in rain or weather they are useless sometimes. Just backed into garage and used mirrors because lens was fogged. I know, how quaint but it worked.
pj8708 Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Boy, do I feel stupid. I've never heard of IR beams any where on the car. Would you please be gentle and edcutate me on the topic? Thank you, Paul
