jfulks78 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Hello everyone! I have scavenged the net looking for information about the factory amplifier installed in these vehicles and I have been unable to find ANY useful info. I have a 2009 RX350 with navigation and without ML. I want to upgrade the factory audio system (head unit, speakers, sub) but I cannot find the output info on the factory amp to help me decide if I want to keep it or upgrade it. I would like to know the peak and RMS wattage of the amp. I would also like to know, if I upgrade the amp, would I still be able to add the steering wheel adapter to the install and retain usage of my steering wheel controls. I would greatly appreciate any info! Thank you in advance!
RX400h Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Have you physically checked the amp, itself? If the info you seek is not there, you may be able to contact the manufacturer or distributor.

Some may not be thrilled by this but will help a good customer. Another choice is "Toyota Information services". This is an official Toyota site covering every technical detail on all models of Toyota, Lexus , and Scion. Log on to TIS.com and register. 2 days of access is $15.00. Let us know how things turned out. Paul
Blamb330 Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I've gone done a slow road of starting to update a few components for my 2005 330 Non-ML unit (8 Speakers) The front door speakers were beginning to rattle so I suspect rotting on the 20 years old speakers. The RX Amp is 8 channel as best I can tell (2 A-pillar, 2 Dash, 2 Front Doors, 2 Rear Doors) it's a 2-ohm amp which matches the factory speaker ratings. I'm about to replace some (not all) of the speakers as a first attempt to address terrible rattling sounds My investigation so far says speakers are all 2-ohm (2) Front Dash mid/high || (replacing with Kenwood Excelon KFC-X2C 2-3/4" mids at 4-ohms) $80 (2) Front Door 6x9 bass only (not sure what the cut-off is for these but everything I've found suggest they are bass only on the front doors -- using 2-way speakers might not do much good here) replacing with PowerBass 6x9 OE Replacement at 2-ohms (2-way) OE692-T $85 Anyway it's not complete replacement and I'm considering replacing the A-pillar tweeters too perhaps with the most basic $30 tweeters I can find. My biggest concern is the 4-ohm mids replacement(and possible tweeters) as factory amp expects 2-ohms, so do I lose a ton of volume on the dash speakers due to increased impedance --- maybe I will be able to adjust enough with just EQ modifications. I don't need super loud. We'll see. (Already replaced head unit Sony XAV-AX8000 wired CarPlay) but not interested in full stereo amp replacement. 220,000 and I am hoping it's good for a good while longer.
