Bouncing Tach Needle And Loss Of Power

Recommended Posts

I just recently got my first Lexus and I love it but I am having a slight problem. As I accelerate my tach needle goes up but bounces as it does so. My car will stutter and feel like there is no power. I reset the computer and the car worked fine for a day. The tach moved smoothly and the car had its power back. The next day the tach started doing its weird thing again and the car is back to running like crap. Any help appreciated

David,

This is a no brainer ... get an independent mechanic whom you trust to check the car out. It may be simply bad sparkplugs, or ignition wires, or a fouled fuel injector or similar.

It sounds as if you have a misfire condition. Most of these are dead simple to diagnose, and most are fairly inexpensive to correct, most even are DIYer type tasks. Good Luck!
