88anthonyd
I'm hearing a ticking sound in the middle of the engine where the throttle body is connected. Anybody have any idea what it could be?
1990LS400
Is this a new problem? The valves on the 90-94 LS400 are notorious for ticking - especially when the engine it cold. Adjusting the valves is quite a chore - most people just put up with the ticking. I did for several years before I sold my 90 LS400.
pj8708
I'm really testing my memory here guys, but wasn't there also a "ticking" problem with some of the 2006 - 2009 engines which they called "Piston Slap"? It too was apparent on first starting cold and seemed to gradualy go away as the engine warmed up. I have never seen any resolution printed for this problem, nor have I read on the site of anyone complaining about it for a very long time. landar
It is quite common for the fuel injectors to 'tick' and they are toward the middle of the engine. If you want to pinpoint a noise, you will have to use a mechanics stethoscope.
