xsaint53 Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 First off my car is kept in a garage and is Tungsten Pearl--- I read the blackIS's seen to have a greater failure rate of the touch nave screen. Here's my issue. Got in my car yesterday to do some errands. The"Select Language" screen that pops up every time I startthe car pops up. THIS time the touch screen is non-responsive. I have some computer monitor wipes,so I tried using those on the screen, no difference. I saw a threadon CL about fixing it yourself. I have ZERO (!!) mechanicalaptitude-- other than maybe changing a tire or the most VERY basicvehicle maintenance. The DIY fix that was one here is WAAAY over myhead. I never had an issue with the touch screen prior to last night. The side buttons still work, but the screen itself is unresponsive. Are there any other fixes-- like rebooting the system somehow.? Irestarted the car several times and still no response. Right now a$1200+ fix is not something I can do. Any suggestions. And the car isway past dealer warranty. Car is in in mint condition, but still it'san '06 with over 125 K on it. Thanks.
Cali2TexLex Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Go to this repair link http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/69937-repaired-navigation-touch-screen/ Although it may seem overwhelming, if you find someone mechanically inclined its really not that hard and very inexpensive repair, which works. I just did it on my 2007 Lexus IS250. Also here is the YouTube video on removing the Navigation out of the Lexus. http://youtu.be/DIcwVnj88VU you can take your navigation out and there are companies that will replace the LCD screen for $600, but you have it ship your assembly (may cause more damage) OR if you can find someone that can remove the navigation assembly out of the vehicle you can buy a LCD SCREEN from eBay for under $300 and its literally an additional 4 screws and two plugs to swap out screen... Good luck
Cali2TexLex Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Sorry doesn't look like the video link above is working, here is the name of the video: How to Remove Radio / Navigation / Display from 2006, 2007, 2008 Lexus IS250, IS350 for Repair
