Just Bought My First Lexus: Pearl White Is250 2007 With 36K Miles

Recommended Posts

So I just bought a Lexus 2007 is250 with 36,000 miles on it for the wifey. Well it has like 35800 miles and still has warranty till 36k because of an extension the original owner did. My question is what should I look at before the warranty ends? I am planing on taking it to a honest local mechanic I have to check it all up and see if he finds anything then taking it to Lexus dealer for the fixing. I'll upload a picture later for your guys... car is beautiful white pearl with is350 rims. Original owner also painted the grill and emblems matte gray. Some notes on the car:

1. It was running on super over inflatted 80 psi... I lowered to 50 psi and will lower to 40 then 35 once I can read the really cold tire pressure level... I noticed the car got a lot more bouncy when i lowered the pressure to 50... tires are 225/40 and 255/40 (front/rear). I think they were 18" both.

2. He had swapped the wheels with the is350 ones but left the tpms on the stock rims... He gave the sensors thou and will be installing them this weekend. He told me the guy that took the sensors off his stock wheels told him to disconnect the vehicles battery before installing the sensors on the new wheels. Maybe you guys can give me some insight on this.

3. When i turn the steering wheel a little i sometimes hear a "knock" like sound when im at a complete stop.

4. I bought a brand new battery a month ago for $180 for my wifes 2006 s40 volvo... should i swap that battery out if it fits and meets/exceed specs? its a 590/790 amp battery... pretty large thou. It has like 3 years of full warranty and then 2 years prorated... Which is why I consider swapping them but I know some stock battery are pretty good thou. My 2006 Si's still running and I got 110k miles on it...

5. The seller also included a Xenon kit for the headlights... But my wife likes how the lighting all matches in color. Just sell the kit or should really consider installing it?

Any other things you guys think i should look at feel free to add and comment. Very happy with the purchase :D:D:D:D thanks in advance!

I'll let the others help you with the mechanical aspects. I just want to say hi and welcome. I'm new here too with my Lexus I just bought a few weeks ago. Loving it so far!

Mine is called Ultra White. I think it is an F-Sport color. I don't know if you have ever heard of Zaino polish, but that is what I use on my cars and when you get 4 or 5 coats on it...the color will really POP! I only have one on mine so far. I can't want to see what it will look like when I get it right. It is such a beautiful pearl metallic.

I see... Well its got a cooler name thou :P Very nice ride! Love how it looks convertible. Thanks for the tip on the polish. How about for the interior leather/vinyl seats? Any armorall conditioner will do? I have a white gel type at home that I use for my house furniture but not sure if I should use the same...

Go to zainostore.com

It is the best stuff ever. Pricey, but worth it. I just bought their leather care and did my seats. I love it. Not smelly or greasy. All the guys on NICO raved about it.

I just sold a Z28 that I had had for 17 years. I had tons of coats of Zaino on it. You wouldn't believe how beautiful that paint looked. People would ask me who painted my car. I would just tell them a robot on the GM assembly line. Teeheehee......

Pretty!!! Your rims do look like mine. That is why I had to have THIS car. Mine has the F-Sport trim package, that includes these rims and stiffer suspension and other trim goodies.

Hmmm interesting... The seller told me he bought these with the car brand new off ebay :/ Could be replicas or something >.< Interesting they look like the F-sport package ones, my wife will be happy to hear that she got F-sport rims like lol

I'm afraid mine are going to be a target for thieves. I already had one thuggy looking guy follow me into our parking lot here. We have survailence cameras, but that won't stop him from getting them if he wants them.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg!

trust me thats the first thing i thought about when I saw the car... Down here in PR they do that quite often...Thats where a shock sensor for alarms comes in handy. Aftermarket alarms comes with them and you can adjust how sensible you like it. Security lug nuts will only delay them...
