Lesux Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 I recently purchased a 2009 ES 350 base model, not even NAV :o and yesterday I was on a road with no street light and I wasn't impressed with my headlights. Is there anything I can do, i.e. like changing the bulbs, in order to have more lights coming from the headlights? Thanks in advance.
bigbill.32 Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 I have an '07 and the low beam HID bulbs are plenty bright but need to be raised up a touch. I'm checking around the forum to see how to do this
007es350 Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 in my 2007 es350 I have not noticed the amount of illumination ever being a problem. but i have less than perfect vision anyway and wear 1.0 corrective lenses, but use my brights when I can since I drive faster than most. MY PROBLEM IS THE QUALITY of the lamps! Ours will just go out while driving, one or the other or even both, then we have to click them off and back on to get them on again, and they may or may not stay on. we have even been pulled over for it. I just clicked em off and on before the officer got to the car and asked him which one was off, and he said they were both fine....ooops! I have a 2000 GMC yukon with 190,000mi and have never had this much trouble with it. the headlights on the es350 are just one of many little multi-THOUSAND dollar $$$ issues.
Paddyz Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 My 2011 ES350 has the same problem. It's bright enough, but does not illuminate beyond the area immediately in front of you. I wonder why Lexus designed cars like this.

In regards to your headlights, the problem doesn't seem to be the bulbs. I'm no mechanical expert, so maybe someone else in here can provide you a better suggestion. But if I were you, I would definitely ask the dealer to look into it. I could be wrong, but at first sight it seems to me to be a relatively minor issue to fix. Possibly a relay or a switch. Poor contact. I'm very gentle with my Lexus, maybe that's why they are gentle with me ;) P.S. Before I got into Lexus, I was driving a European brand and I was among the most, if not the most aggresive driver in town... My cars always needed more 'maintenance'...
