ayan Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 Can I replace the stock bulbs for my 1990 LS400 with current after-market or Lexus OEM HID headlight bulbs? Thanks.
steviej Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 you can replace the bulbs with anything you want just be sure they are the same wattage and bulb number (ie, 9005, 9006, H7, etc). Should be listed in the owners manual or here: http://www.sylvania.com click on the Automotive Lighting, then on Lamp Relplacement Guide. Some good aftermarket bulbs are Sylvania Silverstars and PIAA Xtreme Whites. Here is a website I found that has lots of excellent brands at very decent prices. http://www.performancecenter.com/products/...IARY+LAMP+BULBS You can't just drop in HID bulbs and expect them to work. HID also need ballasts to ignite the special bulbs. This conversion is upwards of $500 or so. steviej
SKperformance Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 It is easy to add hids to any car. But if the lenses are not clear or projector then they will look nice but not have the full impact of hid as tehy have a scattered lens in front to distrubute the light . It does not work well for that type. But does look brighter and is easier to see at night just kind of blinding for other drivers.
