Fusible Link Failure

Hello all, 4 days ago while my 93, LS 400 was running fine, I stopped and lost all electrical power. No Power windows, wipers, A/C, radio, seats, lights, etc. All fuses under the dash are good and I started tracing down fusible links under the hood. One was blown. I put in a new one and it immediately blew before the car was even started. This is located under the fuse cover near the battery, and is labeled AMI 40.

Any idea on what this is for or where to start looking?

Thank you

Rich

Steve,

Thank you for the reply and insight. Turns out the whole issue was related to an oil leak. The valve cover was leaking oil on to the wiring harness for the generator. The oil eventually "burned" thru the wiring harness and shorted everything out.

I appreciate your time.

Rich
