hkc
I added freon three years ago and it worked well. Now I do not have cooling and I am told I do not have any freon.
UCF3
You may need to replace the air conditioning unit, but don't quote me on it. I would suggest taking it to a good air conditioning shop, or Toyota to have it checked out.
flanker271
rumor has it that if your freon is low in a LS400, there is a safety system that automatically shuts off the compressor to prevent damage. Is this true?
Em91
Retrofitting is quite easy and inexpensive. You can buy the retrofitting kits at most auto part stores. What I do sujest is that if you do the job yourself just make sure you have the system evacuated. I've done this on several of my toyotas and have had no problems. Also, when your freon is low your compressor will turn off most cars including Toyotas do this. This is a safety feature so that your compressor doesn't burn out. Good luck.
