ssdoyle
I have a 2002 ES300 with high mileage. Anyhow, My wife got stranded with the car recently(wouldnt start). I had it towed to a friend of mines service shop. Turns out the key was pretty much snapped in half. I had a new one cut at the dealership. Once the new key was cut the car started right up. So now the car would run but it wouldnt keep an idle. The guy at the service center recommended i bring it to the dealer because it wasnt pulling any codes etc. I picked the car up and drove it home with two feet thinking i would just need to reset the computer or maybe just drive it period. So i reset it, drove it around for awhile and no luck..... after being frustrated i floored the car from about 0-60 and out of nowhere it decided to work, run and idle just fine. This lasted about a month..... not one time did i have a problem until........ i was driving around in my subdivision with my son and he asked that i swerve back and forth(i know) so of course i did...going about 15mph and whatever i did rattled something loose and here i am again. back to square one. WONT IDLE. Runs for a few then dies pretty quick. Seems to run longer on cold starts.... outcome the same eventually. So now im stumped. I was thinking fuel filter or Idle control valve. Would rather not waste my time if someone has an answer for me. Thanks
Mike B.
The two are unrelated. Would venture a guess that you might have a broken IACV. Not a fuel filter, if so it would've stalled out when you floored it.
ssdoyle
I think your right. Im going to look into that IACV. Seems suspect to me. Thanks,
ssdoyle
Can someone please show me where the IACV is located? I cant find much information on the 02 es300. They have plenty of RX stuff for that year and any other year es300. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
ssdoyle
So the more i read apparently it looks like there is not a IACV valve on the 2002 and 2003 models. Guess im back to square one. I cleaned the throttle body and that didnt seem to do anything. Still dies after warming up. Thanks,
mphsatty
Still no codes, right? Try cleaning your throttle body.
BookmDano
So how did this one turn out? I have roughly the same condition on my daughter's car. Car runs fine except at hot idle; at which point it misses or stalls randomly. There is no CEL and the code reader indicates there are no DTC's stored. The following was done to try to correct the situation: Plugs changed TB cleaned Plenum cleaned Thanks, Dan So the more i read apparently it looks like there is not a IACV valve on the 2002 and 2003 models.
