timzter Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Seems that it is getting more often that my locked car door (any of the 4 doors) does not open immediately when I pull on the handle from the outside with my key fob in my pocket. It used to be that as soon as I touched the door handle to pull on it, it would "beep beep" immediately and I did not have to pause. It would be as though the car wasn't locked at all and all I had to do was reach for the door handle and open it in one smooth continuous motion. But these days, the "beep beep" tends to come on a few seconds after I touch and pull on the door handle. Anyone knows why?

I changed the battery in the fob and the problem went away. You may need to do the same.
pj8708 Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 That was my guess as well. Would you come back and let us know if that solved the problem? Paul
SW03ES Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Battery in the fob. My mechanic told me that Lexus specifies to replace the battery in the fob every 10k miles whether the customer requests it or not as part of the bundled 10k maintenance package to avoid dealing with complaints about this issue.
Gunner45 Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Yeah replace your battery. I was stranded over the weekend in a "new" used 2009 because the dealer didn't replace the batteries in the fobs when he sold us the car. Not a good way to get to know your "new" Lexus. I got two off eBay for $3.00 delivered the next day. Good thing we had both fobs with us or we would have had to find a battery in the middle of nowhere (Kingman, AZ)
SW03ES Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Or you could have just used the key without the remote/keyless functionality until you could replace the battery.
