The other day I was jacking up the car with a hydraulic floor jack on those thin tabs behind the wheels. My jack like most has a flat plate, so it was bending the tabs. I think these tabs were designed to fit into the slots of the scissor jack that's in the trunk.

My question is, are there better and stronger jacking points for this vehicle?

I believe there is a tow hook in the front and if I can recall correctly, I place the floor jack cradle just behind or under it. I'm talking about a large jack that can lift almost 20 inches. I can double-check, tonight. I almost never jack up just a corner, since I'm rotating the tires, anyway.

Correction: If you look under the front, you will see a label that indicates the jacking position. As far as the rear, I jack under the trailer hitch bar center. I'm not sure where you would place the jack if you don't have a trailer hitch. I did notice that the left (driver's side) rear scissors jack longitudinal plate was bent a bit - most likely by the dealership at one time or another.

There is an adapter you can buy - apparently that tab is called the "pinch weld rail". Not sure if that adapter will work with any jack, though - you might need the specific jack mentioned. This will help if you are jacking from the sides.

If you are jacking from the front center (this will get both wheels at that end off the ground), use the point indicated for the front (there is a label there just at the edge of the front splash guard.

The rear center jacking point is actually the bottom of the rear differential for the regular RX. For the hybrid, it's the crossmember just in front (toward the engine) of the MGR (rear electric motor (or Motor Generator Rear in Toyota speak)). You DEFINITELY, don't want to jack the rear of the hybrid from the electric motor.

*edit* found these, which look even better..

Hey thanks Lemon. I didn't even know attachments like that existed. I think I will pick one of those up and give it a try. The great thing is that it's plastic too, so less likely to scratch. In the meantime I'll need some vicegrips to straighten out those bent rails on the RX.

I'd rather use the 4 corners as opposed to jacking up two wheels at a time. My 2.5-ton jack with a short handle already has a hard time lifting one corner.
