lexus101 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I just purchased a 2009 ES 350 with Navigation. I live in South Florida. The Owners Manual states not to tint the windows if the car has a Navigation System as it will intervere with it. Has anyone experienced any issues with the Nav not working after tinting the Windows?

Can't imagine it would. Please post any info you find. I am actually planning on getting my front windows on my gx460 done soon. I don't see how it would affect anything.

The only thing I can think of is what material is in the tinting film. The shark fin antennae on the roof is not for the GPS but the SAT radio. If the tinting film has metallic particles in it I suppose it could interfere with the signal to the GPS unit. But our kids live on the Space Coast of Florida, and EVERY car there has tinted windows. Surely a good number of them have NAV in them otherwise I would think you would have already heard that it was a problem. I would ask two or three well known tint shops about this issue and see if you get the same assurance from all. Paul
pj8708 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Good News! The answer to your question. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20674 Paul
denslexusgx470 Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 I don't believe it will affect Lexus vehicles as I've only heard that BMWs and Mercedes Benz are the picky ones when it comes to tint. If you do tint them, pick the higher end film which should be "CERAMIC" film and not the cheaper "METALIC" or "METALIZED" films. With the ceramic film, you may tint your windows as dark as you want (or can if you want to stay within legal laws of your state)
